My husband has just sadly died and left me a BMW 840 CI Auto 1996. It really needs a bit of a respray and tidy up and I been quoted around £2K to get it up to excellent condition. Just needed advice about whether it is worth spending that and an idea of how much it would be worth. Mileage is around 165,000 miles. Thanks for any help. Read more
Hi, I noticed as I turned the corner the moped ride was getting up off the road.
Should I report it? Was it anything I did or was he just not concentrating?? I was turned left in a filter. The road was wet and greasy.
Thanks.

No fault of yours at all. A mix of rider error and what looks like a spill of diesel on the road.
To me it looks like his attention is elsewhere, so he misses that you started to decelerate. When he looks back to where he's going he sees he is suddenly much closer to you, and grabs a handful of brake and locks the front wheel, not helped by there seeming to be something slippery right where he's riding.
The tyre pressures on my fuel flap are 32 psi front 38 psi rear.
Looking on internet should be 29 psi front and rear.... Read more
One other factor which I haven't seen mentioned is that overinflation causes faster wear in the centre of the tread, while underinflation means faster wear on the shoulders. Presumably the recommended pressures should aim for more even wear ?
"If we had started testing at the car manufacturers recommended values we would probably see the tires are underinflated and the chalk lines are worn more on the corners than in the middle."...
We are currently expecting twins and currently have 7 and 9 year old so will need a 7 seater soon. My budget is £10k at a push. I want something that is obviously safe - I’ve looked at zafira and those back seats seem to have limited protection at the back. Also need to be able to fit a double buggy in there somewhere too. I’m considering volvo xc90, kia sorento at the moment but any other suggestions or advice welcome.
thank you in advance Read more
Galaxy would be my choice. Lots of space, reasonably reliable and well built, decent number about.
Note that for some reason all 7 seaters seem to have really shot up in price recently....

I’m a first time buyer so not sure if it’s a good deal tbh, need any help/advice i can get. Things to look out for when buying from dealership, questions to ask them etc..
It’s 7.5k 2013 5dr Tfsi & the mileage is 93km.
Is this a good deal? My budget is 8k but would obviously love to not have to spend that much. Looking for everyone’s help please!! Read more
And a buggy, pram plus other bits and pieces will take up lashings of space.
Hi posting on behalf of a friend who like me has a MK 4 petrol automatic SE - hers a 62 reg and mine a 63 reg. She shortly intends to sell the car but has an airbag unit warning light coming on. Her mechanic has advised her that she needs a replacement SRS Unit - SWK44564, model number 77960-T1G-E920-M4. I have tried to find a second hand model online but no luck. There appear to be companies that refurbish repair these units.
Any ideas much appreciated
Many thanks

Following on from my other thread on the Astra, we have tried out some of cars for size. So far we have tried out the following for size and drivers view with wires comments along side.

Wife sat in Vauxahall Mokka, Mazda 3 & Hyundai I20.
She liked the Mokka, high seating position, good vision, good boot size. Didn't like the Mazda 3 due to low seating position even when seat in highest position, felt cramped. Hyundai I20 too small for her liking.

For ICE cars, AWD is typically achieved via shaft connecting front and rear axles.
But for many AWD hybrid cars, there is no driveshaft and a separate motor spins rear wheels to make it AWD when more traction is necessary.... Read more
For many folk AWD is a very occasional need when traction is limited at slow speed - snow, slightly muddy field at the gymkhana or day out. Most vehicles with decent tyres will never need AWD.
In over 50 years and 500k of motoring I have never needed AWD, although it has been close a few times. I would tend not to go where there may be a problem anyway....

So sorry to hear your news....
