This is perhaps an odd one…

May 2021 we purchased a car from an independent dealer, part of the agreement to buy the car was that a panel on the inside of the passenger door (either side of which you have the ability to change the colour of the lights) was fixed due to scratches. The dealer got this repaired and we noticed over winter that the lights either side weren’t working properly/ in tandem with similar lights in the car.

We raised this as an issue within the 12 months warranty, he sent the car back to the garage he’d used to have the panel replaced and they in turn sent the car to mini as they were unable to fix the issue. This hasp now been rumbling on for a good a few months with mini needing to contact their technical team in Germany. Needless to say at 6 months pregnant I’m losing my patience.

This does not affect how the car drives but I feel we paid good money for a car that should work fully and it doesn’t. It also feels as though he’s trying to wash his hands of it, his own admission was that he didn’t want a £3-4K bill when I spoke to him a few weeks back. I’m really happy just for the issue to be fixed but what worries me is that I’ve had a conversation with him tonight (where at no prompting by myself) he’s said that I won’t be getting any money back for the car. I don’t want money back, I just want it fixed.

So what are our legal rights if any?

The HEVs typically have EV mode [uses motor if battery has enough charge] or auto mode [where car decides combination of ICE and EV modes].

But HEVs usually don't have dedicated ICE only mode where user decides whether to use EV mode or not.... Read more

I can see any combination of ICE and a battery becoming obsolete with big bills for these as they get older.

Hybrids have been around since the turn of the millennium and in the case of Toyota, Lexus and Honda, are amongst the most reliable cars on the road irrespective of what powers the wheels. Plenty of examples have clocked absolutely huge mileages with nothing more than routine servicing. And because the battery on a self charge hybrid isn't that big, it doesn't actually cost that much to replace them. ...

My lease is coming to an end soon and need to look for a bit of a runaround for awhile as I’m currently in the middle of a house purchase!

Can anyone recommend some good reliable used cars? Ideally budget wouldn’t exceed 5k (the lower the better!)
Also anything I should keep an eye out for if I’m buying a used car? (I’ve only leased for the last 5 years and haven’t actually purchased a car since I’ve been driving!) a

I've always found the Search facility a bit 'hit and miss' regarding what it returns. One possibility might be a Sticky thread but there are some disadvantages - off the top of my head:

The stickies have historically been used for announcements. Also about a year ago I pruned them and merged them as some members commented there were too many and it was a bit of a problem on their smartphones. I wouldn't know, I only browse the site on my laptop....

DS set to pioneer ditching touchscreens. Hopefully others will follow suit.

I is a little ironic that DS wants to do away with touchscreens. I watched a video review of the new DS 4, and while the reviewer (Rory Reid, ex Top Gear presenter) was very impressed with the car overall, he really wasn't impressed with the infotainment system and touchscreens saying it was very awkward and not intuitive at all!.

But I remember reading that if there is a small ledge or shelf right below the touchscreen, it makes it much easier to use because you can use your pinky to steady your hand making it easier to hit whatever you are aiming for.

The direct injection setup with the VAG 1.4/1.5 tsi can be rather rattily - this could be normal. The start cycle is strange re noises as well, my 1.4 has a real whir on first start-up especially in warm weather which an air wash system to light up the catalyst quickly.

Can you hear it inside the car with the doors/bonnet shut? After a minute or so my Superb is silent at tick-over inside the car but if you lift the bonnet you can hear the direct injection ticking away if you lift the bonnet and listen from the front of the car....

How much does it weigh. and is the fan reversible?

Post a review on trustpilot and on local Facebook marketplace pages and this will quickly go away. I’ve used both before when I’ve suffered poor service or attempted scams like this from local businesses and fly traders. They’ve always backed down in the face of losing a crippling amount of business. The power of social media is an excellent tool against vermin like this.
