Hi All, my MOT shows an advisory to replace the front tyres (worn close to legal limit). I currently have the Goodyear EfficientGrip Suv4x4 225/65R17 102H (all 4 of them). I plan to replace only the front 2 at this point. The question I have is:
- Should I replace like for like, or... Read more
The cooling fan appears to have taken on a life of it’s own.
It runs on after even the shortest of journeys. Indeed, it ran on when I simply moved the car off the drive this morning.
Whilst driving it comes on and goes off in what seems a random way, regardless of the temp display reading.... Read more
Google "Planet owners Map". You can find someone local with a clone of the dealer level diagnostic to give the same results. Many of us don't even charge.

Hi - I'm looking for some advice please. I bought a Golf r from a VW dealership in Oct 2020, have driven less than 8K miles, car has done less than 20K. and it needs a new gearbox. Gearbox is over £6.5K and whilst they will pay for that, I am being asked to pay at least 30% of the labour charge - over £600!!! any advice?
Thanks Read more
Despite the fact there are certain cars in the VW Group stable I like on paper, the reliability of the DSG box turns me away every time. 20k miles is nothing these days.
Modern auto boxes are great, and personally have found the ZF eight speed boxes hard to better (as fitted to BMWs).

We are currently expecting twins and currently have 7 and 9 year old so will need a 7 seater soon. My budget is £10k at a push. I want something that is obviously safe - I’ve looked at zafira and those back seats seem to have limited protection at the back. Also need to be able to fit a double buggy in there somewhere too. I’m considering volvo xc90, kia sorento at the moment but any other suggestions or advice welcome.
thank you in advance Read more
Galaxy would be my choice. Lots of space, reasonably reliable and well built, decent number about.
Note that for some reason all 7 seaters seem to have really shot up in price recently....
So, I’ve had Vitaras before. I now have a new one, long story, my last before this was a 2021 model. So, same car. The seats in this are killing me, back and neck. I’d measured how I had seats in last one as in how far from pedals, steering wheel height, etc.
I don’t know what to do, as when I’ve had any getting used to in the previous Vitaras, it was a bit of back ache then fine. This is doing my neck in too. I’m sure this year’s are not bucket like, I’ve tried cushions etc.
Just wondered anyone else had this sort of thing. The seat also squeaks which is annoying. Read more

This is my first post so hello, so please be nice ??
Just after some advice really. I currently own a red Renault Clio (2018) petrol 1.2 litre engine which does approximately 40MPG - i purchased this outright. I have owned it for about a year since passing my driving test, I have found it to be a excellent car in terms of driving performance and reliability in getting me around. Mine has done approx. 37,000 miles to this date (with me accumulating about 3,500 miles in the last year).... Read more

So I finally made my choice and bought a 1.2 110 Citroen C3 Automatic! I have two questions:
1) For those that have the above car, are you happy with it?
2) Does the dash cam activate when the car is parked? For example if someone drives into the car when it is stationary and not switched on. Read more
It had an incredibly long 'throw'. Oh, and the clutch biting point was ridiculously high, although Citroen said that was a feature.
I suppose neither of these will bother the OP, as he's bought an auto.
To my surprise, I've noticed quite a lot of new cars, across several manufacturers, have been finished in a light grey - not metallic, just a dull, flat grey.
I know something like the choice of colour for your car is subjective, but it's a choice I find baffling. I mean... grey? It's boring, it's industrial. It's the colour of primer paint.... Read more
My car is gradually adapting itself to this new trend as the primer emerges from the sun eroded top coats.
To stop it going brown (rust) I apply sunflower oil sparingly and rub with aluminium, which is also grey....
So I'm in the marketing for a new car and have been toing and froing between a number of cars. Toyota is too expensive and I can't seem to find any decent Kias or Hyundai models. I live in a city and have a baby. Most of the driving will be local but we will drive on the motorway (four hours or so) once a year.
I just read about the Suzuki Ignis and it seems to be a great little car that is also fun to drive. Any thoughts? A friend also recommended the Citroen C3 but the former looks like more fun. Read more
Had a brief lift from a colleague in Milan yesterday in his new-ish Panda 4x4. Couldn’t help liking it, but it did seem very much at home in the narrow shortcuts and streets of an Italian city. Not sure it would scan as well here. Like many Italians, he asked rather more of its little engine, brakes and handling than seemed reasonable to a Brit, but it didn’t seem to mind.
