Nissan Qashqai 2011 - 1.5 DCI - Starting issue -Nissan Qashqa - acerf1

My Nissan Qashqai is having trouble starting when left over night or if left for a while.

Takes a few attempts to start.


Once started its starts again but but always on 2nd crank . Tested the battery and seems to be ok. Priming the fuel bulb does not make much difference.

no error codes on a cheap scanner.

Any ideas what it could be?

'Tested the battery' in what way? Checking voltage tells you very little.

I've only checked the voltage before starting and after starting. Please advice me I have very little knowledge in this subject.

I would think the battery is in trouble. Get it tested professionally with someone that has a battery conductance tester .

Just had a battery test from Kiwick fit. the machines says battery is good.

voltage 12.53v

measured 432 en(a)

Rated 600 en(a)

any thoughts?

Looks like it’s about 30% down on capacity. Not good enough for a Diesel engine.

Good old Kwikfit, demonstrating incompetence every day.

Although why would they say its good when its not and they could sell you a new one!?

If its rated at 600 cold cranking amps and is only reading 432 in summer when the weather is warmer it isn't good. Looks like it's time for a new one, but first check if the cells can be opened and if so that each one has the correct level of fluid.

Could possibly be an air leak in the fuel injection system, or fuel draining back into the tank overnight.

?????

…but does it make some difference or not much difference? Could still be a LH air leak in the fuel filter housing.
