I bought the car a few months back, reasonably priced and drove like a dream, until now. For some reason it won't start when turning the key, but it will push start easily enough. No error lights showing on the dash board, but when driving, the check engine light will at times come on when accelerating suddenly, usually when on an upward inclination, but lasts a few seconds then turn off. Any advice please. Read more
Is it my deteriorating vision or are white lines neglected these days? Yesterday afternoon in the dark I drove the length of a busy A road (the A1120 which links the A12 with the A14. It resembled a muddy farm track with nothing to show where the brown/black road ended and the similar hued soggy verge began. Don't they bother with white lines along the edge any more? The ones in the centre were barely visible, although there were quaint lumpy 'cat's eyes' - which must be more expensive (and certainly more uncomfortable) than the reflective paint used in most advanced countries. Local authorities have had significant cuts to funding over the last 10 years - depending on what evidence you look at the impact on services ranges from "difficult" to "dire" consequences.
LAs have some services defined by law - care, elderly etc - so anything not legally essential will feel the stress of the cuts in funding - eg: road markings probably don't make it far up the priority list - pot holes, verge cutting etc are in the same boat. ....

I paid £3.50 by mistake when I should have paid £4.00 to park.
I immediately realise that I have paid the old charge so I purchase another ticket for the £1.20 minimum on the same registration plate meaning that I have paid £4.70 now for up to 12 hours parking when I should have paid only £4.00.... Read more
Received a cancellation notice for this today. Wouldn’t have been able to prove anything if I’d thrown my tickets away. I’m sure it won’t impact too much on the next choice of Ferrari for the company owners though.

I've just got a Ford Focus C max 2.0 TDCI 2005 but been having trouble with it ever since I got it. The guy I bought it from seemed very dodgy, but because it was going to be a temp. car, I got it and hoped it would be okay for a few months.

Why do they bother?
No, that is not a typo, you can indeed spend £72k on a new Renault Megane!.
Reading an article in October's issue of Car magazine, i came upon the 'Sports car of the year 2019' grand test. Included in this is the Megane, and i actually laughed out loud at the price. The car in question is the Megane Trophy R, which as 'standard' costs £51k, but if you add the carbon wheels (£12k) and carbon ceramic brakes (£9k), the price is £72k!.... Read more
The lack of back seats on that is ridiculous. It's not like the old mid-engined Clio where the engine went where the back seats used to be, it just looks like someone has taken the seats out! Surely it would have been possible to include some fairly basic seats in there without noticeably affecting the performance.
What it reminds me of is a Fiesta Van, or even more so the Astra 5 door van which was marketed in Ireland for a while. Both seem to have been developed to avoid company car tax rather than provide any load carrying ability. Perhaps Renault could do the same with this Megane and blank off the windows in the rear doors to get it classified as a car derived van. It would make an interesting low tax (for what it is) company vehicle prospect then!

Sounds like the same problem I had. Wouldn't start on key but bump / push started easily. Next few days it would work fine then stop again.
Starter sounded strong. A new starter sorted it straight away....
