I recently broke down due to the car stalling while I was driving, now the engine light is on and the car was diagnosed with the following errors by the RAC on their OBD reader

Hi everyone, hoping someone can help. We have a 2007 VW Sharan 2.0 diesel, bought in April 2019 with 13,000 genuine miles on the clock. It's now on 20k. For the last week we've noticed a strong smell in the car when the car has been parked overnight or even left for 2 hours with doors closed. It smells like a fuel smell but I suppose it could be something else. When the engine is running it doesn't seem as bad but that could be the fan clearing the smell away a bit. The smell is so strong you can feel it in your lungs , and taste it in the back of your throat. Car has been to 2 garages and today is at a main dealer in the hope they can find something. Has anyone come across this before or can shed any light on what it could be as we can't drive it like this, and can't sell it with a fault. We are stumped at the moment. The 2 garages we have used so far are small local ones who have fixed our cars for years. They couldn't find anything leaking but could smell it. Advice very greatly appreciated. Read more
A lot of these have an additional webasto heater units installed under the floor . They use the diesel from the fuel tank . May be worth a look .
I want to see the queues of angry EV owners waiting hours to get use of a public charger at a service stop or council car park. No way is there enough infrastructure in place for this. Read more
Orange peel paintwork goes back well before the latest water based paints and is normally because the paint is applied to thickly and too quickly. If it is applied properly in even thin coats it doesn't happen. Read more
In reply to "screening process". I wonder if newer model XC60's are particularly vunerable to windscreen damage. My neighbours 68 plate XC60, is on its third windscreen. He has also been greatly inconvenienced in getting replacement screens fitted and nowhere in our vicinity can re calibrate the cameras behind said windscreens.
Re "Non stoppable" there are many people, myself included, who wish that they could permanently disable their car's stop/start systems.
They are nothing but irritating gimmicks, just another example of technology doing what few people want done. The fuel saving is minimal, and is offset by increased wear on the starter circuit. Something else to give trouble and expense.
I switch the device off before every journey, and it has become as natural as putting on my seat belt.
Rather than pay for an expensive stop/start battery, why not fit a conventional one and do without stop/start? Read more

My Vauxhall Astra 1.9 diesel has just had its timing belt changed. And still has a horrible sounding idle that is very rattly. As you can see in this video : youtu.be/ddtg0rjk9yM
There is also random clicking that occurs when the engine is under load and the engine rattles when is above 3500 RPM. ... Read more
I am trying to find out how many of the lower powered variant have been sold out of the total since introduction in 2018. I have only seen one advertised and that was brand new.
Thank you for any help. Read more
You could just get the performance version and buy some 18inch wheels. Swap them back when you’re ready to sell?
I suspect that may not work looking at the on-line specs. One of the additional features of the Performance model is different front brake calipers and that normally means bigger. 18" wheels may not fit over those.
Before posting your SPAM can I suggest you learn how to spell your fictitious name. Bit of a guess I suppose but WILLIAMS is not spelt wiliiasm

So funny, AOL stopped being an internet provider in the UK decades ago!
Apparently the demise of the old paper tax disc has cost millions of pounds with people forgetting even though there are plenty of reminders around. Seeing the date on the disc on your windscreen was a constant reminder and difficult to ignore. Read more
<< It is not necessary for a vehicle to be seen for an offence to be committed. All vehicles must either be taxed or SORN'd. To have an untaxed vehicle that is not been declared SORN is an offence. All that's needed is a regular run (say once a month) of the DVLA database to identify those vehicles that are neither taxed nor SORN'd >>
Of course. But that assumes that DVLA knows of all changes to every car's ownership. Simply sending penalty notices to the last known address for every vehicle one month overdue is only a partial solution. Something else must explain the noticeable increase in apparent non-taxation.
First of all, im not 100% sure im posting this in the correct area??! I'll post anyway and hopefully someone will steer me in the right direction, if its wrong.
