I received an email advert today extolling the virtues of Honda's upcoming EV. Its still a prototype and looks a bit like a GWhizz (spelling?) mated with an Aygo.

It can get 80% charged in 30 mins but its range is .....drum roll.....125 miles.

Really is this the best Honda can promise? Read more

That says that sales are of cars have increased - just that they have had to give incentives to get sales due to older models.

But profits are significantly down and car sales in the EU decline by an already low number by 1000. This seems to me (reading that report and others here) to be due to increasing reliability problems....

Hello, sorry in advance if this is longwinded!

I went and looked at the car a few days ago, test drove it, no rattles or noises out of the ordinary, I was happy with the car so I put a deposit down. Today I went to finalise and purchase the car under the impression everything was in good order.... Read more

I haven't seen any reporting of this in any mainstream media ( I wonder why?) so I thought I would alert the brain's trust on here to this case.

Briefly, the scientist who originally published the so - called "hockey stick" graph warning of unprecedented global warming, Michael Mann, professor of climate change at Pennsylvania State University sued another climate scientist -Tim Ball- for defamation for commenting about the purposely corrupted data Mann used thus:-... Trump seems to imagine that running a big influential country is just like running a large company (which he inherited) - hire and fire on a whim, offend anyone for any reason. He will never make a real politician - or at least there's no sign of it so far.

Does anybody have experience of these schemes? I’m interested to know whether they offer a real discount when most manufacturers offer discount off a new vehicle anyway. I’ve never bought any of the makes new so I don’t know whether or not they do discount.

I presume that £2000 off the price of a new car relates to the list price and that other special offers don’t count. £2000 seems to me the sort of new car discount you could get anyway. However, Mazda are offering £4000 of a CX-5 which does seem attractive. The engine has to emit less than 144 whatevers of CO2 to qualify, which, without checking, doesn’t mean much to me. Read more

When I was sourcing the uncles new car we looked at the Kia Picanto which had a £2000 scrapage discount. That made the car in base colour £7895....

I loved the Phaeton, it was the first blue collar luxury car but of course it made absolutely no financial sense for VW or new buyers. It was only there as a brand uplift model and was only viable as it shared much with new Bentley and Audi models that were jointly developed. Lovely big cars and brilliant used buys at the right money.

A scheme run in one area of London a few years ago was ideal.

Blockers had a large paper notice glued to their windscreens; using the type of glue they used to fix free CDs to the cover of magazines with.

It doesnt do any damage, but it takes 20+ minutes to scrape it off; as the paper rips to shreds when you try and remove it.

My local Lidl regularly has every one of its 5 disabled bays blocked by vans, pickups, SUVs and knobs in posh cars.
Parking enforcement action was promised nearly 2 years ago; but nothing has happened yet. Read more

One of the worst supermarkets is Sainsbury's who are at their Hyde depot in Hendon .they have no concern about disabled customers at all.At times out of 6 disabled bays 3 are occupied by able drivers
I know from previous experiences and from other gruntled disabled drivers they are not interested in misuse of the bays ????.
