Hi,
Hope someone can provide some insight, help or advice on how to tackle a problem I have which is simply not going away and has cost me a bundle already.
Have had a Bluehdi 1.6 from new and full service history, abou 11k miles a year.
Over a week ago, EML light came on whilst driving on motorway. Went to main dealer and diagnosed p02ed and p00bc fault codes. Upshot was I had to have EGR Valve replaced. Did about 20 miles and error reoccurred. Took back to garage and they reprogrammed EGR Valve and road tested it. Drove it for 5 miles and same fault happened.
Now getting pretty stressed about where this could lead and money getting tight. Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to check which could clear this issue. Car is out of warranty. Was never offered an extension as apparently I could have taken one out. I’m guessing until fixed this would not pass an MOT which is due.
One other observation. Service light is illuminated and is 1k miles overdue. Booked in for 10 days time and MOT done same time. Was told this would not cause an issue but I am thinking could it be causing a phantom issue and causing this alarm to force the service to be done now?
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance for reading. Read more

Hello all.

I suppose that one of the defining things here would be to ask whether a) certain parts on a car that don't require maintenance, such as the fuel tank should be designed to last the lifespan of the vehicle, and b) what IS the defined lifespan of the vehicle?...
I have just renewed the wiper blades on my car and was wondering if they can be recycled anywhere? Read more
Its obvious people cannot do it anyway due to the amount of rubbish that gets chucked on our streets, its surprising how many drivers stop at the side of the road and empty the car before driving off or dumping their black rubbish bags I passed several doing that earlier today
I thinbk that's more general fly-tipping to avoid businesses paying for commercial waste removal/disposal/recycling (including dodgy contractors) and the recent trend back to properties being occupied by multiple families/far higher occupancy than they were designed for to accommodate foreign workers (sometimes illegally - I've seen this in TV reports in major cities quite a lot) who thus get through way more refuse and recycling (if they even bother sorting it, which I doubt) than the standard one bin or each plus a brown bin for garden waste....
Hello everyone,,
I have a Samsung "smart" TV which has an internet connection and is fabulous for watching programmes via the built-in apps (iPlayer, More4, etc.), however, the ITV player is (and always has been) totally useless!... Read more
Thank you bolt. Our TV is about 2 years old so not too outdated!! I had the good fortune to receive a visit from my nephew with his 11 year old. Between them they downloaded the app in no time. Works a treat too. Watched an episode of Inspector George Gently last night on it. TBH I was perfectly happy with our Panasonic 47" Plasma, all it needed was a magic box to smarten it up, but SWMBO wanted an LED so we got the LG. I only just managed to talk her out of a curved screen TV in John Lewis. Seemed such a waste to me. I gave the Plasma to a friends daughter and it is still going strong. Fashion/Gadget victim again!!!
Cheers Concrete
My daughter has whats called a plasti-chrome GB emblem on her car and wants to take it off. They're basically non rigid and bendable (when off the car) but its clearly not going to come off easily

I thought it was only the 1.5 TSi with manual boxes that did kangaroo impersonations? Read more
I have manual 1.5 TSI Evo Golf and after updating software main dealer said no more can be done for the car and it drives just like any other 1.5 TSI Golf. Software update made a slight difference but still hesitates and kangaroos especially when cold. Currently with VW Customer Services but have taken legal advice on handing car back. Very disappointed as this is 3rd VW car and previous 1.4 TSI ACT Golf was so smooth.
RE: "A Misunderstanding"
DH should pay up for the work done and then shut up.
The poor guy (XXX) who worked on DH's car must bitterly regret getting stuck with DH as a customer.
I seriously pity the next worker (Victim XXX2) DH tries to get to work on his car.
DH has run up a nice solicitors bill - he better pay that one!
DH wants to run up more debt clogging up the courts, wow, I wonder what his solicitor said about that?
The mini will still be a pile of rust at the end of it all, unless DH wants to pay £7k for a new bodyshell - plus labour - come on DH, stop being a skinflint - PAY UP. Read more
Agree that the "chinese made" comment is unwarranted. The original company eg BMW would have specced the part to be manufactured and would have signed it off.
They just would'nt allow the Chinese supplier to throw in any old tat. Blame BMW rather than the manufacturer
HJ gets it right more often than not - apart from LHB (IMHO).
Better than Which this month. I was at a friend's house & he swears by Which - I google for electrical reviews & read HJ for cars + other sites.
Which Car "expert" answered a query form someone about an HRV - he dismissed the HRV as under powered. This was probably based on their "expert review" of the 2015 1,5's. He recommended a CRV!! - the query was from a driver of a 12 year old Jazz - even the slow HRV would be OK for a driver of an asthmatic Jazz.
Obviously they had not done their homework on the 1.5 Sport than can do 0-60 in roughly 8 seconds.

I think it depends where you live.

I can manufacture the noise as video by preparing to pull away in first with handbrake on as I lift the clutch and accelerate gently with air con on, switch it off no noise, switch it on and there you go. So whatever is moving and spinning under load. Not sure why it is exaggerated only with ac on and stops when ac is off if not ac related, unless it is connected to something running the air con and something else engine related or whatever the belt runs.
Diving along will get the same noise which stops when I switch air con off then switch on and it returns intermittently as I drive along and definitely not a normal air con noise....

Clearly changing the EGR has not cured it - this post ( http://www.ds3club.co.uk/forum/ds3/ds3-technical/397668-1-6-hdi-eml-on-fault-codes ) suggests the MAF may be at fault (which seems more likely to me). Given that the EML came back on shortly after the 'repair' then I would be back demanding a refund for that and a proper fix....
