Hi.
5 years ago I bumped into the car in front in a car park. No claim made on either side, but the front grill chrome trim was cracked and came away a little at the left. About 6 months ago I noticed a crack on my front number plate, someone bumping into me and leaving without trace. I didn't do anything about it, thinking I would get it fixed whenever... Read more
Bought the bike home a couple of weeks ago along with a shed full of parts. Dragged it out of the garage earlier and gave it a pre inspection clean. Typically Honda the 40 year old paintwork shines at the touch of a sponge and leather. Some wires have been re-connected and the battery taken off - the engine is a mixture with a piggy backed starter motor that's not connected to anything on the original bike. Kick start shows strong compression and the gearbox changes easily and I find neutral easily - it will need a new battery. Hopefully with draining the tank and the carb and re-fuelling it should go !
Keep us posted! For what it's worth I'd stick fresh oil in it (it's less than a litre) and clean the centrifugal sludge trap before starting / running it: https://www.carlsalter.com/Honda-C50-C70-C90-maintanance.html

Hi All
Wondering if someone can help me with an issue that has developed with my Citroen C4 since changing the rear brake pads.
I thought it was going to be a relatively easy process to change the rear brake pads on my C4, like many other cars I’ve done in the past. I got to the point where the caliper piston had to be pushed back to allow space for the new pads, but realised they had to be rewound back in. This proved to be impossible while the calipers were still connected to the car so I disconnected each rear caliper to make them easier to rewind. Obviously doing it this way meant that I had to bleed the rear brakes again, which I’ve done many times before and thought I’d done well enough this time round. However, since the car has been put back together the brake pedal feels very spongy and travels almost to the floor, plus as the pedal is depressed I get this short whoosh of air noise come from the passengers side footwell area. The brakes still work fine, it just doesn’t feel right at all.
Can anyone please help me identify what has happened and what I can do to rectify the issue. Your comments and advice would be greatly appreciated. Read more
get one personally, but it offers the two things that I need from a car with my health conditions and that is ease of driving and most importantly, comfort. If it's one thing Citroens do well at, then that is giving the driver and passengers a comfortable ride. I have realised since owning it that they do like to do things differently, and rather annoyingly as well.
I injured my cervical vertebra many years ago doing military messing about, and for a while it looked like I'd have to get a Citroen DS...
Afternoon all,
For those that have been here since the beginning and remember HF (Sarah) I have some sad news. She passed away recently, leaving behind two sons. I'm sure we will all recall her wonderful character and spirit and send our best wishes and condolences to her family.... Read more
I have only just realised that I can review HF on this website. This was our third trip to Nether Grange HF Alnmouth in July 2011 and as always we had a brilliant time. Cannot fault the staff, standard of service, the leaders and the high quality of the food. We all had lovely rooms and now have the added (bonus??) of a tv in each room - how HF has changed! We have booked this year to go to Derwent***er HF in July - looking forward to that.
Not the time or place for this. Please crawl back to wherever you came from.
I understand grants have dried up for electric cars, but can I get something decent for the budget and save on monthly petrol costs? Annual mileage is approx 7k miles p.a.
Thanks Read more
Electric cars are a financial disaster for private buyers, its as simple as that.
In 2015 we bought a Nissan Note 1.2 DIg-S which after discount cost us about £12000....
Hello all,
This is my first post!... Read more
Found a page on the DVLA website:
Welsh government has cancelled a New motorway around Newport at a cost of £1.6billion having spent £100m on the project and no solution found to the congestion caused by the Bynglas Tunnels to the existing M4. The reason largely based on environmental concerns which I applaud.
Road tech when it was built was nowhere where it is now and it was only a 2 lane route and tunnelled for approx. 400 yds in 1962. The M4 was later widened to 3lanes but the pinch point of the tunnels remains at 2 lanes and is a real problem at rush hours.... Read more
I appreciate the environmental issues that affect decision making. But surely there must be some sensible forward thinking about this. Here in our village a developer is building 45 houses. They had to spend well into six figures to have newt fences, wildlife surveys and archaeological fishing expeditions. It doesn't actually cost the developer anything, the poor saps who will pay many hundreds of thousands for the houses all pay an extra 10K or so for this 'service'. In my past experience of building various things, including roads, the flora and forna takes little time to recolonise the areas affected. The same should go for motorways. My understanding is that major road verges are heavily colonised by wildlife because humans mostly avoid them. Surely after the initial construction phase the environment should be back to near normal fairly quickly. Some obvious disruption to the area but not usually irrecoverable and the needs of the local population should be paramount.
Cheers Concrete
Hi,
Just a quickie on Coolant/Antifreeze ( C/AF ).
My car had a new cambelt kit and water pump fitted a couple of months ago. I now find the C/AF is way below minimum, I presume this is due to the mechanic scrimping on C/AF when filling up after completing the job (even though I paid top dollar for the job), so I need to top it up.... Read more
So I assume that Ford, Honda and Aprilia all had a good reason to specify D water as a 50/50 mix.
Assume nothing. What 'good reason'? There is a good argument that D water is actually worse than hard tap water, which might produce a negligible amount of scale. Read this......
The fastest I drive is at most 10% over any given speed limit (on the motor way rarely over 65mph). At these speeds am I right to assume that the handling of a car hardly matters...so a puny Yaris will handle as well as a roaring M5, or am I being naive ? Read more
Most people confuse "handling" with "sporty feel" - particularly given that (thankfully) 99% of people never drive anywhere near the handling limits of their car on the road - give most people a stiffly sprung car with over-direct steering and they'll say "it really handles" - most Audis for the past 20odd years are a good example - when pushed they under-steer like an oiled sea lion but are stiff and therefore "sporty", so people think they handle great - they don't - segment for segment, practically anything made by Ford handles much, much better than practically anything made by Audi. Still, the badge snobs queue up to rent a dynamically inferior product to impress the neighbours.
Love it - That's brilliant!
I you're not too worried about the car's appearance, why not use duct tape over the damaged areas?...
