According to the Sunday Times mag the e-tron weighs 2490Kg, about a ton more than an X-trail. Perhaps it should be called the e-ton? 80% of UK electricity is generated by fossil fuels with significant inefficiency loss at the power station and around 10% loss over the power lines. It's obvious that carting around an extra ton of mass will need a significantly larger amount of energy than a much lighter similar sized box on wheels. I think the Audi extra-ton might need to burn more fossil fuel for its energy than an X-trail does. What do scientifically educated backroomers think? Well, our 2003 Yaris and 2012 Jazz are both very easy to work on. Just upgraded Jazz's headlamp bulbs - took 5 minutes to change each one. Easy peasy..

Good. These companies need to let go of the internal combustion engine. Put less effort into whining about subsidies and more effort into making the outlander fully electric. Read more

I agree full electric is not there yet owing to the infrastructure. I have a PHEV Ionoq
and I charge at home overnight which does all my local journeys which are the majority. When I go on long journeys I do not charge my car on route because it takes too long for a mere 30+ miles. This is why PHEVs do not come any where near the MPG quoted by the manufacturer people will not wait 2 hours for 30 miles its easier to put in petrol 5 mins.and plenty of choice.

Crikey, the exterior must be really bland if that's the best image they have. Where has the flair of design gone? Just another VAG bland photocopy. Seems like someone at Skoda used the "black and white" copy button instead of the colour one on the machine. Read more

Yes, the design studios seem to leave the cockpit styling to the office junior, or a bored teenager on work experience. Very few cars, certainly at the popular end, have an interior worth a second glance (the Fiat 500 being a worthy exception).

I was driving my car today along a country road, no potholes, and my osf wheel felt like there wasn't any damping as thumped up into the wheel arch. Garage said shocks were ok last week, but keeps happening. Any ideas? Is a B6 Passat.

Needs to be checked again- maybe at a different garage if no different response. I had a B5.5 Passat Estate a long time ago and I have memories of an extended bump stop needing replaced on the rear or front.

i, please help!!

I have a 2018 Ford Focus titAnium 1.0 Ecoboost. MA18ZHU.

It’s ten months old and done 10000 miles. I’ve had three ford focus’ previously to this with no issues. I had to pull over the other day as had a bad burning smell The clutch went stiff. Ford have assessed it and are stating that it’s wear and tear!! After 10000 miles!! They’ve quoted me £1100 to repair it and aren’t budging even though I’ve told them I have definitely not been riding the clutch.

I’ve seen loads of stories on these forums and all over the internet with people having the same issue. Surely they can’t get away with this and it should be fixed under the warranty? Read more

Various reports in Honest John Answers it appears to involve haveing the repair done and inisting on all parts been returned in order thatt they can be examined to determine if there was a slave cylinder leak, and if so its a warranty repair. (You would need to put that in writting, and for the dealer to acknowlege the request)

Anybody know if there's anything special needed to change the fluid, or can I just use tried and tested method with a helper pushing the pedal while I loosen the bleed valves.

You can use the old fashioned method, but you are better off with a pressure bleeder to get the fluid through the Abs pump.
