Just a shame that (at least from these pictures anyway) that the interior still has that 'acres of cheap-looking grey plastic' look to the it, especially the dash.
I'm sure it goes brilliantly (I will wait and see about the ride, given the standard Fastback isn't very good on that score, even compared to the equivalent hatch) and looks good on the outside (I saw a standard model recently). Good boot space and accessibilty too.
I'll reserve my overall judgemnent for now - too early to tell. Read more

If my daily commute on the M25 is closed to me by an accident, I used to be able to take a known alternative route along single track backroads that was almost as good. Now those backroads are impassable because everyone with a smart phone can find them! Google Maps tell you they exist but not how congested they are. Queuing like that, squeezing along between hedges, backing up in the face of immovable 4 x 4 drivers, is almost as stressful as sitting in the original congestion. I ended up taking a huge diversion, another 10 miles or so, caused by this 'congestion spreading' effect of universal satnav. What is the answer I wonder? Read more
... for most of us, the car's audio system is directed at our knees; cool air only reaches our faces - where we want it - after deflecting off the steering wheel and our hands; and for the conscientious driver who does actually check things over from time to time, every car has an (external) underbonnet catch in a unique position and up, down, left or right movement to open, and actually propping the bonnet open requires both hands. Could this be why so many drivers neglect basic maintenance?
So many of the modern goodies like "auto hold" "hill hold", reversing cameras and countless safety features are cracking good, but I despair at (most) car manufacturers' inability to get these little details right!

For example, we don't have climate control on either of our Audis, as manual aircon works fine for us
We had air con for years and then bought a couple of cars with climate standard. At the time it seemed unnessary but quickly we realised it was way better, simply set temp and drive....

IMHO the whole motoring insurance industry in not fit for purpose in this country.
When I was side-swiped by a Polish lorry on the M1 10 years ago, my insurers were quite happy for me to "take it on the chin". They seemed completely uninterested in trying to chase-up the other party for the loss. It was only my insistence (and careful recording of the full details of the accident, including photographs of the lorry and drivers ID / license) that resulted in me "only" having a no-fault claim on my record.
SWMBO desktop computer was playing up just now so she restarted it, and the fan went straight into overdrive and the PC failed to fire up.
The main computer is on the ground under the desk, and we have three hairy dogs who spend all their time with swmbo, so we hooked the PC out and unclipped the side cover...ye gods, dust and dog hairs you would not believe, vacuumed the thing out reassembled and fired up, all good now.... Read more
Got a new built-in fridge-freezer in the (recently re-fitted) room where you prepare food. It has an air inlet cut-out in the plinth below and this needs regular de-furring due to pet hair. The first time I unblocked it I swear I heard the F-F give a sigh of relief?
It probably helped ease my 'leccy bill as well?
Hi all.
I collected a new car yesterday, thanks to SLO who found it on Autotrader for me!! :)... Read more
Nobby has had the advice he asked for, and kindly came back to thank people for it.
That was all that was needed on this thread. Closed.
Just thought I would share you my awful experience dealing with an Rac dealer and the rac conciliation process , bought a Ford Focus back in May from an Rac dealer in good faith the website advertised Rac warrantys and 40 years in the trade with glowing reviews and I trusted them - mistake no. 1 !!!
6 weeks later my gears were not quite right so I took it to an rac approved garage and unfortunately they found a serious oil leak from the gearbox area , the car was advertised with a new clutch (Nov. 2017)and it would take 5 hours to diagnose the fault although the mechanic thought it was caused by the new clutch not been fitted correctly. ... Some of those once famous motoring clubs who are now simply a business don't carry the stamp of approval they once did, just as brands in all walks of life are now mere shadows of what they once were.
An old friend of mine started out in business in a part of the building trade, he'd got nous but little experience but within days he was able to purchase membership of a seemingly impressive guild that allowed him, complete with note header and van transfer to give the impression of a builder of umpteen years standing....
I was nearly seduced to buying a 2015 plate Toyota Yaris, advertised with service history, and with a Toyota 5 year warrant sticker on the rear screen. On closer inspection though the service history was logged onto the web site, it was not full service history. The service history was as follows: first service at 25k yes 25K at some local "autocentre", followed by a so called 114 point used sale check before sale, despite the fact that my visual inspection highlighted less than 5k use left on brake pads, front and rear. I think this used car Kent based super site was playing fast and loose with this cars description, thankfully I walked away and rejected the offer to purchase an extended warrant as well as £700 for Guardex..
As ever buyer beware.... Read more
There are a number of cars sold at car supermarkets sold with patchy service history, cars obviously rejected for franchised dealer approved programs. Some of the details you can see online and avoid, but equally, I can never fathom out why folk buy newish cars where the service history cannot be verified and are promised to 'send it on', by which time, it's usually too late.
£700 for Guardex on a Yaris? I'd expect to pay that for a luxury coach!...
Been to 2 garages but they failed in locating its source. Comes from somewhere around front driving seat wheel only during acceleration and when the car is going straight.
Please help, this noise just irritates. Any advice or suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks... Read more

As I have an account with TomTom I can use TomTom MyDrive website in my browser on my PC before setting off. This is pretty good at showing the current state of traffic if, for example I want to choose between the alternatives to get from my place to the M1 when I take SWMBO to work in the mornings. It freezes my phone, unfortunately, which I'm sure is a problem with the phone only. I probably should try the app.
