A few years ago, someone on here posted the web address of a site that held scanned archives of Car Magazine going back almost to day 1. Does anyone remember what the site address is?

I'm looking to change the gearbox oil in my Zafira B, 1.8 petrol, manual.
Can anyone recommend a good quality one to use please?... Read more
I hadn't looked into it yet and didn't know that, but I know my brother has a syphon kit. I think he said it's a huge syringe. Thanks
I'd be very grateful for some advice please.
I'm fitting an amp and new speakers to my Zafira and was wanting to run cables from the amp and tie in behind the head unit at the point just before the two ISO connectors (which then plug into the secondary loom (which I'm not using), with the large black plug for the CD30 MP3).... Read more
ive read your thread that you connected an amp to your stock headunit, can i ask you how did you manage to get a + wiring for your amp? did it came directly from the battery? i was a looking for a small space to pass my wire from battery to inside of the carbut cant find one.
My 2006 Renault Laguna Initiale Sports Tourer key-cards are not activating the automatic seat settings for self and wife despite setting the key-cards memory settings separately in the hole and pressing the memory button on the seat and hearing the confirmation tinkle. Everything else works OK. Local garage testing after oil change reset confirms no computer errors. Somebody on this forum somewhere suggested pressing the key-card buttons 20 times to reset everything which seems a bit odd unless it would works or wake the computer from its slumber!! Clues please?... Read more
Good Evening.
Is there anyone out there who has ( or knows who might have ) the software, interface lead and technical knowledge to re program the Dynamic 110AH controller on a Rascal 329LE Mobility Scooter please?
Manufacturer fails to respond, importer and local dealers all clueless.
Based in SW England but can post unit to someone having the equipment and knowledge.
Any assistance much appreciated... Read more
Am now told that the software required is available as a free download for use on a laptop and would suspect that if anyone out there has the software, they would also have the interface lead/adapter required to allow its use.
Does anyone out there have or know someone who might have, the " Wizard" software and the interface lead, to adjust the Dynamic 110AH scooter controller please?...
Hi,
My wife has an automatic-only licence and does about 24,000 miles a year. Until now we've had Petrol 1.6L cars like the Astra, Focus etc. We buy used (2-3 years old) when the car's done about 20,000 miles & px it at 100,000. Our usual budget is around the £7-£8k mark.
All our cars have had conventional 'torque converter' auto boxes and have been fine but they're a dying breed as car companies try & switch to more efficient unconventional designs like computer controlled manuals (Toyota MMT), DSGs (VW DSG & Ford Powershift) & CVTs. Over the last few years it seems that all of these unconventional boxes have had quite severe problems, all of which sound like design faults that no amount of software updates and clutch replacements will ever sort out - the driver's just expected to put up with them when they're really not safe.
Our 2011 Focus (that has a torque converter gearbox and has been faultless) needs replacing soon with another auto capable of reliably (and safely) getting to 100,000 miles but no suitable options spring easily to mind so I thought i'd ask here for ideas.
The car needs to be petrol and I'm quite open to having an unconventional auto IF it behaves safely & predictably and its capable of reliably covering the mileage. Has anyone got any suggestions for a small-ish auto for us to try (maybe even a little smaller than the cars we've had in the past)??
Thanks

I'm confusing myself now. I think I need a diesel due to the mileage I travel to work, 62 miles round trip daily 75% of which is dual carriageway and motorway. I'm now worried about DPF and how it's been driven previously obviously affects that. It has to be an estate because I have dogs and it has to be reliable because I can't have a car that's in the garage every five minutes as this would not only cost money but result in time off work. I currently get an average of 60 mpg from my 03 astra estate and if I drive carefully can squeeze that up to 65 mpg.. I'm primarily looking at the ceed 1.6 cdri but have also had a look for petrol versions of the same car. According to HJ the quoted mpg for the ceed is not even close to the reality although these figures obviously depend on how the car is driven. If I use these figures as a benchmark the petrol version will cost approx £7 a week more in fuel so I'm still leaning towards the diesel. Cruise control would be nice as I have worn cartilage in my right knee, I also drive for a living so the less stress I put on it the better and obviously this too would affect fuel economy.
So now I'm looking for other suggestions apart from the ceed. I'm hoping to trade in the astra although it obviously won't be worth much. Budget is £5000, may be able to squeeze another couple of hundred onto that. Seat Leon has just been mentioned on my other thread but seems to be well oup of my process range. so far we have ... I know of one Ceed that was pre-registered because it did not have a DPF, it was in our dealers showroom.
At this time new Ceeds were in high demand and most cars were factory orders, ours was. The only stock cars were unpopular colours. Kia did not (and do not) have a options list that enables dealers to fill their showroom cars with £1000's of options that no one with 1/2 a brain would want....
I purchased a new VW Caddy from a dealer at the end of September last year. By the begining of December there was a noise coming from the front when cornering. I contacted the dealer and told them I did not want the van but they said to contact VW customer services. VW customer services said I must give VW one chance to try and repair it . I took it to a different VW dealer as it was closer to my home for the repair under the instruction of VW customer services. They replaced the steering rack . This did not fix the problem . I contacted VW customer services again to take the van back and they said it should have went to the supplying dealer for the repair . Customer services admitted they gave me the wrong information. I took it it to the supplying dealer and they have replaced the gearbox and said the van is fixed and they want their courtesy van back. I told the dealer and VW customer services that I want a new van as this should not have happened on a van with less than 4000 miles. They have refused .
Any advice would be greatly appreciated ! Read more
Hi, I cannot tell if you have closed this off or not now as the thread has gone a little off piste by the looks of things, but hopefully I can provide some qualified opinion.
1) If you bought the vehicle as a private individual then you have protection under the Consumer Rights Act (as you are a Consumer). if however you bought it in some business capacity, even as a Sole Trader, then you are not a Consumer and the CRA is as much use in this situation as a Harry Potter novel....

Thank you!!
