I have had the car since 2006 when it had less than 9000 miles on the clock.

I like getting my cars via PCP deals so don't want to get into a discussion on the pro and cons of PCP's here. What I would like to know is how it appears that an online broker can undercut the main dealer by a fair margin?

For my next car, comparing the dealer vs broker monthly payments, the broker comes out £50 month cheaper even though the main dealer is giving a £1500 deposit contribution with 0% APR. This is for identical deposits on an identical car.... Read more

Many brands have different price/discount structures for retail and fleet customers - brokers can often access the fleet side and order through them.

Ever lost the one touch on your drivers window ? this how you get it back............

turn the ignition on so the light are on the dash or start the engine press the window switch so the window winds all the way down then hold the button down for 10 secs now close the window up on the second click/notch once the window is close hold the button up for 10 seconds As told to me by the dealer yesterday...it worked for me. Takes seconds to do, costs nothing. Thought I'd share it. 2012 QQ Tekna Read more

Just how accurate is the MOT checker site? I've just entered a car registration and it's come up as a diesel. However it's being sold as a petrol...... is it possible the site is wrong? Read more

In the late 80's I worked in a ford main dealer for a short time and this sort of thing happened back then. More than one car ended up registered with the wrong plates and we even had a punch up in the showroom one one of those mistakes. That was fun!

I appreciate it probably varies between makers. However, I was surprised when a friend referred to her sports model car as being comfortable. I have always thought of sports automatically being uncomfortable. Does a sports suspension mean a harder ride ? Is this yet another misconception of mine ? Enlightenment appreciated. Read more

If 'S' means sport, then that's certainly true of the Golf S and Octavia S. Audi, on the other hand, start with SE and work up through Sport to S-line.

Generally the sweet spot is the one in the middle, or one down from the top of the range if there are more than three trim levels. The extra bits on the top model are usually cosmetic: Brits are particularly susceptible and that's where the profits are made. The extra cost is way above the actual cost of the additional trim.

Just driving to work this morning and I overtook a Y reg 1983? Ford Escort that seemed completely fine. Just started to make me wonder why we see less older cars on the roads today bearing in mind that cars rust less, engines can do 100k plus miles and break down less frequently. I am suprised. nowadays to see anything over 15 years old... Read more

I think the car repair body shops carry part of the blame, as I suspect that they bump up the prices for insurance repairs. This makes even minor repairs on older cars unecomic.

The manufacturers carry more blame, because of the ludicrous prices asked for new body parts. My 2008 Pug 207 SW suffered a fairly minor collision which was costed at £2600 by my local repair shop, so the third-party insurers wrote the car off for £3500 dismantled, or £2275 if I kept the car, which I chose to do. The repairer saved a bit here and there so I was about £250 out of pocket overall. Car now looks and drives just as before, so I'm happy with the result. It saved me the trouble of finding something else - without a DPF of course.

Hi all,

Not too disimilar to this thread, I'm looking to get a valuation for my late fathers car at the time of his death (11 months ago) for probate and inheritance tax purposes. I have been informed that the valuation should be a printed letterheaded document stating the adjusted value at the time and undertaken by a professional with reasonable skill and care. I contacted my local Ford garage who were predicatbly useless - who can I get to do it?... Read more
