Yep did look at a 5 series as they are almost giving them away. However find the interiors very dated and think that in 2-3 years when I change again it will look very dated!

Where i live, the car is a bit exposed to the weather and when its freezing , it does start but i reckon if it was left for a longer term it may struggle.

I remeber driving the old Dodge postal vans and having to be towed /jumped started on freezing mornings.. My question/curiosity is , does the cold weather actually drain the diesel battery , for example , lets assume you left the car for a week or 2 in cold conditions but returned when it was above freezing perhaps , as an example, 1o degrees or so..Would the previous cold nights affect a physical drain on the diesel battery , or, would it start as you left it. , Brain. At 8 years old,it is probably due for renewal.Find a garage that can carry out a conductance test. This will analyse the crank amps availabilty of the battery. This is the standard that all battery/car makers follow for testing.

Hello please help me decide. I have a small budget of 5k and need a suv. Been researching all day long till my head hurt as just can't decide due to my limited budget. I have managed to mirror down to a few options which include -

Freelander - forget unless you want big bills, head gasket esp
Tiguan - wouldn't touch a diesel after emissions farce. Dashboard is dull and boring
Juke/qasquai - juke is smaller boot not as big as quasi or Kuga but see HJs used cars comments, as petrol Jukes are poor accelerators. Overall a fair buy
Kuga- had a 61 plate Titanium 4x4, lovely car, very reluctant sale due to company car - a Juke. models have bright coloured plastic trim in early models, many call Fisher Price interior
Other options have no experience

Now is a great time for everyone to check their vehicle has a full set of working lights.

If you find some have gone get yourself down to Haulfruds and have them fit you a new one. The cost is usually little more than a fiver for standard bulbs.... Read more

LED lights are all well and good if your car can take them. I've seen loads of cars with cheap aftermarket fitted LED bulbs on the rear number plate and they've flickered like a dodgy flourescent light bulb where the starter has failed.

I`ve been using leds for years with only 2 problems, when I bought cheap, from E`bay, and regret it, they had bad connections and flickered, but even flickering they will pass an MOT because they are still working...

Any car V5C registered in UK can be scrapped by a thief with a simple declaration of "no V5 available". The scrapyard, even an authorised vehicle dismantler, cannot verify via DVLA or police-related computer links if this is the owner or not, because there are none!

The electronic petition 173840 now needs urgently signing for this loophole to be discussed, debated and finally closed.10,000 electronic signatures minimum are needed for discussion in parliamentary committee and more than 100,000 for the subject to be debated ... This could be your car, old banger, or loved classic that disappears! ... Read more

Gosh, this thread seems to have moved immediately into a non-motoring ID discussion.

To return to the OP's point, I'm shocked that a car can be stolen and scrapped without a V5. I've signed the petition....

Not convinced this is a step in the right direction. We need to be focusing more on the root causes of death on the roads - like speeding, drugs & mobile phones - and less on the outcome. Deaths are a tragedy, but to prevent them we need to be less reactionary and more proactive. Read more

Please note the picture of the RTC used to illustrate this article, dates from 2011. It is an image of the collision on the M5 in November of that year. According to the follow up investigations, dangerous driving was not an issue in this tragic incident. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_M5_motorway_crash.

Owner of new Prius, had brake cable recall work done yesterday, appears it just needs a clip fitted for security .Toyota do lots of recalls across the range but this just proves that they monitor the safety of their products constantly so I feel quite safe at all times in my Prius.
A recall must be looked upon as a positive, not all manufacturers are upfront about problems with their products. Read more
