Volkswagen a German car manufacturer, who does not produce vehicles in the UK, has made cars with 'cheating' software, which is now costing it millions in compensation in the USA, and is unlikely to pay out in this country.
We now have the EU threatening to take the UK to court because we have not imposed harsh penalties on Volkswagen. Assuming we are found guilty to whom do we pay the fines? The EU obviously, which is essentially run for the benefit of the Germans and French. I wonder if the German and French Governments are being similarly threatened. Read more

My car was hit by a truck with a trailer on a roundabout today, when the other guy moved into the middle lane,where I was, from the inside lane. He's damaged the rear pasenger door and the bulk head on drivers side quite badly; I have photos of his vehicle crossing from the inside lane into the middle lane;my car is shown in the middle lane. He didnt accept resposibility,saying he couldn't see me!His offside bumper was damaged on corner.
I have only TPF&T insurance and phoned the company to report it, but as its only TPFT, they wont do anything but told me "enterprise" will contact me; turns out this is the car rental co! who told me if the third party's insurance co. accept responsibilty, then they can help with the repairs, otherwise it goes back to my insurer:should I let them deal with it, or get some other claim company do it. My wife had this model and year focus. I thought it was a good car. A little slow taking off but ok after that. She did eventually get a blocked get valve which I cleaned up ok. she changed routine and only did 2.5 mile trips which didn't suit the car.

The heater takes heat from the engine cooling system....
No matter how many ways this is looked at; he broke the law. Ignorance is no excuse. I saw this character arguing for the SNP at the independance referendum. He stuck me as no slouch when it comes to grasping situations. Therefore a simple insurance policy should not present too much difficulty for him. My guess is he is a named driver to save money on the policy. Not illegal if he is an occasional driver under the policy, definitely so if he turns out to be the main driver. As Transport minister he really has nowhere to go on this occasion because his actions were at best stupid and at worst plain illegal. He may not resign for the former but should for the latter. That is a matter for his conscience.
Did I say that? He is a politician, he will take the route that least damages any future he may have as a politician....
