A couple of months ago the daughter was driving the car(learner ) and complained the brakes wouldnt work when she applied the pedal dismissed at the time as perhaps pressing the clutch instead.

I usually look straight at the rear brake compensator when this kind of thing happens.

Siezed levers or bad spring tension can mean it moves when it ment to and when it's NOT....

Love the colour, would have to see the brown leather in the flesh. I've had many Subarus down the years, I have a current model Forester at the moment, plus an Outback and my wife has an XV. I've yet to have one let me down. It's nice to see Subaru doing well in the UK with year on year sales increasing. I think the 100 of these limited models will prove popular with the faithful.

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can give an insight please. I'll ring the garage in the morning.

Car did 350 miles last week no issue, been driving it earlier and on the way back we went round a small left hand incline and heard a MASSIVE bang from underneath. Got out couldn't see anything on the floor, all tyres good ( though poss blowout ) and bounced the shocks all seemed ok. Slowly drove home and put on the drive.

Have been underneath and pulled everything that might be loose ( DIY ) and visual inspection cant see anything. Just moved it off the drive to get other car out and 2 more bang ( quieter this time as I was only about 3/5 MPH ). Seems to happen on braking or on a full lock. If car is stationary I can do lock to lock and I don't get a bang just a very low 'klunk' which might just be some play. The steering wheel before all this did feel a tiny bit 'sticky' when you move from dead centre to slight right before this but has done for the last 500 miles. Top of suspension mounts seem fine.

All the springs look in tact?

Any thoughts please? This will be a garage job regardless.

Will it be safe to driv ethere slowly ( bout 1/2 a mile )... Read more

Hello. I've not had an insurance policy for ~18 months, so my 10+ years no claims is going to expire in 6 months due to the 2 year rule employed by most insurers.

Am planning on buying a car sometime next year and have got some quotes with/without no claims history: it's ~£250 more per year if I dont have any no claims history.... Read more

When I went from company car back to private, that took into account some the time I had the company car and gave me 3 years NCD.

So I would checkout that option first

Nothing wrong letting Saga's Ins Co authorising repairs with Honda dealership/approved bodyshop.

Just make sure they will give you a hire car (like for like) for the duration of the repair & cover the insurance for the hire car - do not get caught out by having you stump up for the daily excess waiver cost....
