That seems to be standard practice in NZ - when we went there in 2009 I don't remember it being a problem.
Both cars were Toyota Auris 1.8 petrols - a good combination of car and engine that stupidly Toyota won't import to the UK. And they were called by the old name, Corolla - a much better name than Auris....
Does anyone knows if the Toyota ECU require rreprogramming to reset the DPF loading level after the DPF is cleaned?
I have asked one of the DPF cleaner garage and they are unsure. They are charging £200 to remove, cleaned and refit to the car.... Read more
I do 17k miles a year and 90% of mileage is on constant motorway speed.
Original DPF lasted aprrox 60k. Replacement one (currently in the car) have covered approx 40k miles and regenerate at approx 120 miles. So before it get any worse I am thinking of getting it clean....

Is this a 1.6 CVT model? If so don't waste any more money on it and take it straight to the scrap yard.
The only possibility is an oil and filter change on the gearbox if you can find someone to do it but once these go wrong it is effectivley scrap.

I've got a 3 series petrol manual on standard suspension and 17" wheels, bought new in Nov 2015. I strongly advise you NOT to buy one with manual gearbox and the standard suspension. The gearchange is too notchy in first and second and hard to put into reverse. Sometimes I have to use two hands to slot it into reverse. As for the suspension, oh dear, what a disaster. Unsettled on all road surfaces at all speeds. Some reviewers say that the auto box and adaptive suspension are "must-have" options. Wish I had read that before purchasing the car. Good luck.
Hi all
I went into a Mercedes dealer with a view to getting a Merc C class Coupe C220d Auto, having seen it out on the roads and I just think its LOVELY, particularly inside.... Read more
I went through that process some 2 months ago and now have a C220 DCi Auto Est - the last of the 204 series, which has been a great success and meets most of the technical specification I require, including the more comfortable 16" wheels. I don't recognise Avant's description of the engine, which is pleasantly refined - but this may depend on what you have been used to. Also, the 7 speed torque converter auto gearbox is so good that gearchanges can hardly be detected. Fuel consumption matches the spec on long motorway runs @ 57.7mpg and latterly @ 60.1mpg, which has surprised me. The current 205 series, which you are probably referring to, has even more technology to contend with and the full week's training is likely to be required to operate it. Finances permitting, you need to consider size requirements between the E and C classes. I have one minor criticism - there is some wind/road noise at speed with the C Class - not a problem for us - but may not be a feature of the E Class.

Fiat Strada. Top hose so positioned in the engine bay that it chafed through. Dealers didn't stock spares. Gearbox died early on too. At the time there was dreadful service from several Fiat dealers. Have avoided Fiats ever since.
Further back, VW Kombi of uncertain origin, had at one time been used for safari work so had a game hatch, about the only good thing about it. No handbrake (no surprise in our corner of Africa, so no worry). Jumped out of 1st gear on the over-run so you had to drive with one hand on the gear lever. Heater ducts all collapsed or missing, admittedly not a worry in warm climate. Sliding door fell off. Seemed to eat rubber bushes for shock absorbers. Broke a rear torsion bar. Finally got shot of the car when crankshaft broke!
Really need to see the other emission figures to make any analysis
