It surely won't be long before we see battalions of drivers matching the description of "white Man van man" on the motorways. Unless there is a block on the white paint option, which would lead to a white Man van man white van ban.

Last year as a private buyer I bought a new 330i and took delivery at the beginning of January this year. Now I happened to be looking at BMWs web site recently and noticed a comment that said, "On the road price includes delivery, number plates, first reg fee and VED."
Which triggered me to have alook at my paperwork, first thing I noticed was that I was charged £33,345 for the car but the price list then was on the road at £33,005. But prices move about, that I have to accept. But ...... Read more
It's normal to separate them on the invoice, because some attract VAT, others do not.
As long as the total is the price you agreed to pay, there's no problem.

I believe it - dealer development policies from major brands always specify a large glass palace as the primary requirement for the establishment of a dealership - preferably in an expensive location adjacent to the other brand's large glass palaces.
All it does is to drive up prices - no wonder it's a case of "we don't open our laptop for less than £120"
I now share a lift with 4 other people we drive one day each.
My bmw 4 series only has 4 seats so it looks like getting a different car.... Read more
XF is a lovely big car, one we considered last time but the list of things that can and do go wrong with the twin turbo 2.7 diesel is a long one. Had a friend that ran an XJ6 with the same engine who could tell you many a tale of woe. If you must have one then spend more and buy a later 2.2 or 3.0 or if you can find an early 3.0 petrol they're pretty trouble free and will touch 30mpg on a run (2.7 diesel will only be 6-7mpg better) but they're rare.
Big Volvo S60/V70 D5, BMW 520d, Audi A6 and Skoda Superb are all worthy options but they're still prone to all the usual maladies suffered by modern diesels. I'd probably favour the big Volvo as long as you avoid the PSA 1.6 diesel at all costs. The 5cyl models seem to be capable of mega miles without too much trouble and you'll get better value for your buck than the others.
I unknowingly purchased a clocked car last year. Only brought to my attention by the police who are currently investigating the dealer for at least 10 other cases. Gave police all my evidence etc but not heard back. Highly doubt i personally will recieve compensation if it goes to court as so many others involved. Car was clocked by 52,000 miles. Is it worth my while getting my own solicitor involved to get compensatiob or would i be fighting a losing battle? Also if i where to buy another car woulld a garage even accept mine as a trade in?

Thanks for your reply. Its a 2011 astra with quite high mileage anyway, around 80,000 on the clock at time of purchase. So over 140k now when clocked mileage is added. Spent abit of £ on it since finding out it had been clocked. No service history so had to buy a new timing belt etc just to be on the safe side. Few warning lights here and there. Did a value check online and looks like i will get around £1600 for it if i was to trade in. I bought it for £5500 and traded in my old but perfect clio as a part payment. Just trying to decide if i should trade it in and wash my hands of it or keep it and run it into the ground. Dpf light coming on very regularly now so i suspect its on the way out. Hopefully not. Dont want to spend anymore on it as ive probably spent more on it than its worth now :-/
I'm getting a grinding noise when setting off just in first gear I'm thinking it the clutch but if I keep my handbrake on and try and pull away it doesn't happen only when moving off and only if I set off quickly if I set of gently it doesn't happen ?? Any suggestions please ? Read more

The original post seems to be composed in some other language and then translated word for word into English using a dictionary. I met that once at work in a letter from Germany that made no sense. I asked the lady translator to do a word for word translation back into German and then retranslate it into English; then it made perfect sense.
They also said the same when the 1/4d, 1/2d coins and 10/- and £1 notes got withdrawn.
