The electric power steering & stability of this 2012 Hyundai i20 1.2 Classic seem to be badly affected by the car's radio / audio system:
If the radio is kept OFF, the steering and handling become much tauter; the car becomes much nicer to drive.... Read more
Hi all would like ppl a views on these cars I can't decide. Looking a decent spec (msport or s line) around 13 plate. I'm aware the 5 series was face lifted around this time. My thoughts are the bmw is a bit dated inside and the A6 wins hand down on the interior. Outside I don't think there is much in it. Running costs etc going to be similar I think? What do youcthink? 2018 blimey! The facelift A6 out n is is stunning but I can't stretch to one of those! The Thor hammer headlights are just the best!
Does anyone know if there is a genuine Fiat kit for the above including tensioners pump etc or are the kits available separately? If so is there a recomended retail price for the kit(s)?
Is there a book time available for both jobs together or do the individual jobs book times not duplicate work?... Read more
Thanks. I've found that booking the job on-line via the Fiat website most dealer's price is said to be £199 without the water pump - including the dealer we phoned who quoted the price as £450!
I recently asked a question about buying approved cars and I got some good advice - thank you.
So I am now looking to buy an approved car and I have a couple of quick questions that I hope someone could help me with. Apologies if they seem a bit daft!... Read more
Generally, "manufacturer-approved" cars will only be sold at dealers of that manufacturer. Frankly, a "franchised" dealer of "X" brand selling a used car from "Y" brand tells you nothing about the car.
It might actually say to some that the previous owner thought the thing was rubbish, and voted with feet....
Hi,
I'm looking at the new Mazda 3 Diesel and wonder whether anyone has experienced any issues, particularly around DPF/Turbo problems. May also consider the Mazda 165 Petrol version. ... Read more
Many thanks for the detailed replies.
Annual mileage is around 12,000. I've always liked the torque on a diesel but think I will have a look at the 165 Petrol Sport....
Anyone tried any online car brokers, i.ex. Varissa.com, drivethedeal, carfile.net, carwow etc..? Read more
Looking to buy fairly soon for towing so I have been to all the online brokers mentioned. Some brokers are excellent for Ford but rubbish for other makes, some are good for Skoda but rubbish for others, so you need to still shop around. I found Carwow the worst. They simply give you a list of dealers who offer a quote. The dealers all try to contact you and want to telephone you, presumably they think they can sweet talk a sale. Some chance. I refused them all. The quotes were on the high side too. Much better deals on offer elsewhere, so Carwow is now off my list. DTD and Coast2coast seem to be consistently the keenest and the easiest to deal with. Having said that my local Ford dealer came up with a cracking deal for a PCP at 2.9% APR interest on the deal. Cheaper than buying a nearly new or used car from their stock. Weird. I accompanied my daughter who took her second PCP with this dealer and she came away with a brand new Focus for not a lot of money. The deal price really does get better if you test drive(£500 off) then take a manufacturer conribution, then a dealer contribution, which makes a new car very accessible. As always the need to examine the detail is paramount, but it is not compicated.
Cheers Concrete...
Has anyone used a OBD2 ELM327 coupled with Torque Pro app and managed to access DPF data such as pressure (that one at least) or even saturation %, last regen...
Or maybe I cannot see the sensors available to view on the Torque app because citroen ECU management is not allowing it? Read more
Is there any real need for that level of data though? The car will regenerate itself as and when it needs to.
And if any of the components aren't working you'll get warnings on screen....
Hi,Anyone know their Focuses please?
After driving through electrical storm deluge and parking up,leaving car for a day,car wouldn`t start and there appears to be an auto headlamps issue.Headlamps remaining on after disconnecting battery and reconnecting after charging.Headlamps only remaining on with ignition key removed and all switches set to off,so disconnected the battery again.... Reason for the mutimeter is it's possible to get a good indication about the state of the can bus coms just from checking two terminals on the diagnostic socket.
Get a meter and repost when you have and I'll run through the procedure.
The handbrake cables on my 7th generation (2005) Civic have stretched and need replacing. The original Honda part is £120 each. This is far more than I would like to spend.
Euro Car Parts have Pagid ones for £44 each. The following are available for less at around £35 each:
Herth+Buss
NK
JapanParts
First Line
I was wondering which were the better aftermarket brands out of the above. Is it worth paying extra for Pagid? They seem to be exclusive to ECP.
Also, the AC condenser on my 7th generation (2005) was damaged when I had an accident late last year. The AC hasn't worked since. The original Honda part is £240. Again, this is much more than I'm prepared to spend.
I was wondering which aftermarket brand was the best out of:
Nissens
EIS
Delphi
Many thanks! Read more
Several years ago I needed an AC condenser for my Ford Mondeo Mark 2. A genuine Ford one cost nearly £400; I bought one made by "Hella" for £105. The Hella condenser fitted perfectly and still worked fine when I finally scrapped that car some years later.
I'd always associated "Hella" more with electrical fittings, e.g. headlamps. However, looking at their website, they manufacture a whole range of vehicle replacement parts. They are clearly a quality manufacturer.
