I am trying to find a car that ticks a lot of boxes. I am wondering if there are too many boxes as I can't seem to find one that ticks them all. I am on the standard rate of mobility PIP payment and so I want to spend this payment on a car. The PIP payment is £21.80 per week. I have about £1500 to put towards this. I am looking for the best car I can get (obviously) that costs the £1500 plus a weekly credit payment of about £22 per week over 3 years

A bit like Kewsea in previous thread, I am undecided. I have bought a caravan and need a tugger for the 1250kg weight. I have a 2005 1.9tdi Skoda Superb with 200k, original clutch etc. Some people advise fitting a towbar and using that until it gives out. £350 for a towbar is not a bad investment even it only lasted another year, but couldn't go abroad in it.
However I am leaning towards a newish vehicle. I now only do about 6k miles per annum so diesel is now out of the question. Petrol means that the Skoda Yeti is ruled out. That leaves Octavia 1.4tsi, Ford Kuga 1.5 ecoboost, Honda CRV 2.0vtec, plus various other vehicles. The choice is mind blowing! If there are any experienced caravan/trailer towers on the forum I would be grateful for any useful comments and advice. My vehicle budget is up to £18k. Gentlemen, the floor is yours! Cheers Concrete Read more
I also fitted the Bosal kit, it was very straightforward. The kit came with some fairly poor quality scotch connectors, if I recall, I used some better quality ones I had and double taped them to be sure. All the chassis holes are pre-drilled, but masked by underseal. Just make sure you have or borrow a torque wrench. I am very pleased with the quality of the fixed installation and as 659 says, it is a bit of added security at the rear! It also acts as my reversing sensor.
Previous occupant "out of view" .. for several years, Getting lots of letters that Royal Mail insist on delivering.
Received Car insurance docs and informed Insurance co that person had not lived here for several years, not really interested.. But interestingly did admit when pressed that the insurance cover would be void in the event of a claim if the person was using the address to obtain a lower premium..... Read more
I would just cross out the address of the unopened letter and mark it "not known at this address". Not sure what the legalities are of opening correspondence addressed to others. Of course if it just refers to the occupant, that is a different matter.
Sadly, a lot of mail just goes into a bin if its been sent on a companies behalf by a third party mailing house, and never gets acted upon....
Hi, car is acting odd. On startup it does one of three things:

Just to update in case anybody else has the same issues. Car is now fixed, three issues in all; split turbo pipe, fuel filter gunked up and the clunk on start up was due to the exhaust not being fitted properly. Every bolt on every bracket was loose. Cost £30 to fix and now starts perfect.
Hi recently an exclamation mark in a triangle surrounded by a circular arrow has come on the dash, does anyone know what this means? Thanks in advance. Read more
You will need to get the engine and ABS controllers scanned for fault codes. Search the VAG forums for someone near you with VCDS. Also check the fusible links on top of the battery, and check thoroughly because one may have a hairline crack which can be difficult to see. Use a test lamp to check them.
Hi, I'm leasing a car soon so have time to advertise my Mini Cooper d at my leisure.
I've got a colleague who is going to store it at their business premesis so he can do test drives with prospective buyers( near to me so I can be present if necessary)
I haven't sold a car for years so any tips or threads on the subject to read.
Thanks. Read more
I will get myself down to the premesis if a buyer is coming.its a highly reputable medium sized business with 5 branches-not likely to get involved in a scam. In think most people would view the risk as manageable.
I can take the buyer to the registered address which is nearby. I don't really Envisage a problem.
Hi there, the central locking on my Galaxy is going haywire. It's haphazardly locking only some of the doors and similarly, when unlocking, some doors may remain locked. The front passenger door often remains locked when the rest of the car is unlocked. Occasionally the drivers door too remains locked and I have had to climb in from the back! When locking, just in last few days, the car is locking all doors except drivers door. The doors that stay locked when car is unlocked can't then be opened even from the inside. The key has now stopped working when used in the drivers door and the remote is sporadic so I darent use the car. I'm scared of getting trapped in car too with all doors locked!
Any ideas anyone please? Thanks! Read more
Check the wiring where it runs from the drivers door pillar to the door.Very possibly some fractured or broken cables. You won't get trapped in the car,as it will be "doors to manual"
Dear All
I have a Citroen C4 2.0 VTR Diesel that has been playing up recently with kangaroo jumps, hesitant acceleration etc etc. I googled the problem and came across a post which said remove a connecter to a sensor on the inlet manifold. There were two there so I removed one and went for a drive. I got a depollution error but the car ran smooth with no more jumping. I believe removing this connector puts the car in some default mode. I removed the sensor an did notice a lot of oil and dirt on the sensor and on the inside of the ducting. There is a flapper in there connected to a spring I guess that was moving and returning to position when pushed. I cleaned as much as I could and reassembled and connected the sensor up again. The jumping behaviour was back and the depollution error was still there.
What do I need to replace here, just the sensor?
Regards

Looks like the guess-o-meter has come out to play. You have removed a sensor, but don't know what is is or does and cleaned a flap.No disrespect, but modern common rail diesels are very complicated and without any accurate diagnosis you are not going to get very far.Get the system checked properly.

Hi, I would be happy to help if I can.
Looking at your op and follow ups it doesn't seem like a good deal.
A new car would be likely the same or cheaper.
Pm me if you want to have a chat, no pressure from this end, it's not what I'm about
Good luck either way
