I have a diesel 1.6l Ford Fiesta TDCI Zetec and recently, when idle my revs have been dipping down to 750rpm when the idle rev count is usually around 900rpm.
It dips about once a second and when it dips I hear a click sound from the engine. It doesn't tend to happen when I first turn the engine on, it'll be later on in the journey when I have to stop at traffic lights, for example. ... Read more

I am trying to get the 4 digit security code for my sat nav radio. Ive taken the unit out, but there is nothing saying serial number. There is A3299673 but i think this is too long. Any help? Read more
Oh dear!
Don't recognise any of the numbers, I'm afraid. It could be "034917", it's the right number of digits but it has to be preceeded by an "M" or a "V"....
My indicators have failed. I have checked all the fuses including the four in the engine compartment. I don't have a manual but is the problem in thhe stalk?

Any ideas as to Toyota's reasoning for fitting one alongside such a modest petrol engine? Read more
Do you know of any other smaller (< 2 litre) petrol-engined cars that come with a DMF? ..... DMFs are something I'd prefer to avoid.
Although not "smaller" in the terms you asked, my Saab 9 3 Aero, 2.0T HOT petrol engine has a DMF. Standard output 210hp/300Nm. Mine is tuned for mid range performance and is up to 280hp/380Nm. I bought it nearly 6 years ago and tuned it straight away. It also had a new clutch under warranty just after I got it (it used to live in Scotland). I've done 65k mostly "spirited" miles and the LUK clutch is in fine fettle as is the original DMF (now 104k old)....

Ford Main Dealer or there are sellers on Ebay who claim they can supply them for a small fee.
Some months ago, I met a bloke at an independent car dealer in North London. He who was looked the spitting image of Honest John (without the hat). He was very knowledgable about cars. He woudl tell me the Audi have this issue or that car has the engine mounted this way and it has that problem. He could pick each car, and tell me the pros and cons of every car!
He basically said today's cars not meant to last 5 years!
I spoke to a bloke at a big independent car dealership, who basically said the cars build 10 years ago are significantly better then the stuff they are building today. He was not a salesmen, but dealt with aftersales problems. ... Read more
Most New York taxis are now Prius'. A harder working environment I cannot think of. They are tough cars.

Those countries win because the non-eastern bloc countries see what's coming and vote for an act other than one from the former Soviet Union, probably who is 'nice' (not the 'old colonial powers' [i.e. UK/France] but Scandinavian countries), or 'who hasn't won for a while' or 'not Britain'. As others have said, following Ireland going nigh on bankrupt during the financial crisis, they now put forward rubbish acts so they have no chance in even getting past the semis or at worst scoring well in the finals.
We're only there by default because the UK (us via the BBC - if there's a pot of money the BBC can cut, its this) is a big financial contributor, probably why many other nations' voting 'panels' don't vote for us and France as well as the aforementioned reason (our involvement in Iraq, Afganistan and Libya are still fresh in the minds of many across Europe)....
