Im after some advice...

In February I was pulled over for speeding, he was going to let me go with a telling off but noticed I had a bald (below legal limit) front tyre. I was aware I needed to get the tyre changed and intended to go that week.... Read more

I agree - this thread has gone on for too long so I'll close it. As usual, Scot22 has summed it up very fairly and courteously.

The advice of the majority to Srumbles was that on balance it's worth employing a solicitor - so the thread actually served its purpose in the first few replies. ...

I dont see what all the fuss is about, though to my mind if the test results of emmisions are not achievable in real world driving why not say so or charge people for the technology to do it

Basically what a large car manufacturer said a couple of years ago

Hi, I drive a Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdci 57 plate, and have a very consistent flat spot around 3100rpm. I've logged a drive in third gear and it shows the boost pressure climb to 29psi until it hits 3100rpm when it starts declining. The map sensor reading matches this. It's been driving like this a while but I can finally afford to try fix it. Also checked things like fuel pressure and air flow, can send images of the graphs taken. Any ideas? Read more

Can you send the graphs to my email address info@checkwithamech.co.uk

Good morning

I have read some articles around tax implications of company cars with interest but not really found the answer I am looking for...

I work for a charity which has around 80 cars that we buy brand new and outright, and turn them around every 120,000 miles or 3 years.

I am trying to compare the benefits from an cost efficiency, tax and user perspective between continuning to buy new cars and buying cars that might be 2-3 years old.

Most obviously buying a 2-3 year old car would mean mileage is already on the clock so turnover would be increased, however, £20k for a new car compared to £10k (for example) may offset this turnover.

I'd welcome opinions.

Thanks Read more

Five year rule on car you don't know what your talking about. Deprecation is the hit the employee takes at high mileage.

Edit - Bedford, your first post on here used the word 'dumbass'. Now you are rude again (and it should have been 'you're', not 'your'). If you do this again I will have to delete the post.)

Japanese or Korean and petrol powered, definitely. The Mazda 2 (or 3) woulsd be good as suggested: also I think most Hyundais and Kias have torque-converter automatics.

Recent models of the Honda Jazz have had a CVT which from all accounts is reliable....

Hello I have just got a new Polo GTI on a 4 year PCP, had it for about 2 months and have decided its way too small for me, I am interested in an Audi RS3 and was wondering if Audi would take the Polo as a part exchange and I could start over again?

Not a great deal - the payments made so far will be largely interest rather than reduction of the principal loan.

Not sure in what way the Polo is too small (your own comfort? passenger space? luggage space?) but check carefully as I don't think an Audi A3 (or any variant of same) is very much bigger. If you need more space all round I'd recommend an Octavia vRS. I had three of them consecutively and they were brilliant.

Hi
We recently sold our nissan juke and bought a peugeot 308. We have now discovered we are going to have another child and feel that the 308 os to cramp in the cabin for two adults and two kids, we also miss the height of the juke to an extent.
We are looking for something bigger and are torn between an suv and an estate and are looking to spend around 9-10k as we will have negative equity from the pug going on to any finance.
Ideally we are looking for something that will give us at least 40 mpg and have a bit of ground ( i do a lot of hillwalking and drive on forest roads) clearance as well as a decent boot and plenty of leg room, also one that has a goid reliability and safety rating.
So far i have come up with an asx, mazda 6 estate and the quashqai, i was just wondering if there is anything else i should take into considoration?
Cheers Read more

Mk4 Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 Diesel? You could pick up a nice one for 10 grand.Perfect for big families, loads of boot space and very reliable and refined.

The only negative would be the ground clearance which is average but not to SUV standards....
