Just to apologise to all of you who rightly criticised an OP who failed to read the sticky thread and named and shamed a dealer. You'll all have got an automatic E-mail - sorry for that.
I simply don't have the time to go through all the posts and delete the dealer's name.... Read more
Had no problems with this car until I got in it today.
Loud hiss coming from dash like high pressure gas escaping, like opening a gas cylinder wide open. Goes off with the volume knob and is across all radio stations as well as DAB and FM channels.
Any one on here have the same car and experienced the same thing? Is it a simple fix? I know it's under warranty, but before I start booking and using up time, I just wondered if there is a simple thing I can do before I get to that point.
If it is a dealership fix, then Ill add the outcome on HJ reviews about this model. Read more
Cheers guys.
Got in it this morning, nothing. Everything working as it should.
Will keep you abreast if it returns. If it does it'll be a trip to Ford.
We have just bought a place up North for weekends and holidays. At the moment I have a 14 plate 320d Touring which is a great car but am considering changing for an SUV/4WD type due to the elevated driving position which I find very useful on narrow lanes and also general robustness. My crap driving has already seen me nearly trash the wheels in potholes.... :-)
I haven't made the decision yet as I want to make sure I am doing the right thing and would lose the BMW with a heavy heart. However it's also out of warranty next year and it's always been on my mind to move it on then as I'm wary (without any justification I may add) of big repair/servicing bills when it's out of warranty. I have had a couple of niggles with it, nothing major, with the biggest pain being to get the dealer to have a look at it within 3 weeks!... Read more

God! here he is again. 10 out of 10 for effort! Not really a motoring question, more a one for the CID I would have thought. Concrete
The airbag warning light is intermittently on , I would have thought if it was an actual bag fault it would stay on all the time . When I had a passenger in the van it was not lit then I had no passenger on a journey after about 10 miles it.illuminated. I have my suspicions it could be a poor connection under the passenger seat
I tried disconnecting the battery and removing the plug under the seat but it's very awkward and I could not get the plug to disconnect , after pushing the red connector I thought it should come apart .
Do I have to do anything else .
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

if you disconnect battery your fine, go ahead and check the wiring under seats,, very common to become partually disconnected, due to the seat being adjusted/ sliding back n forth. multi plugs can be an absolute b***** to come apart . try just pushing them together.. another place can be behind the airbag on the steering wheel but depending on your mechanical skills that might be a tall ask of you to remove and refit that... good luck!!
Hi, the near side door mirror has stopped folding when I lock/unlock the car. The pool light and repeater work ok, but I also can't adjust the mirror either, and the manual fold/unfold button doesn't work it either. The offside works fine.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance Read more
Hi, the nearside folding door mirror has stopped folding/unfolding when I lock/unlock the car. (61 reg. Grand CMax Titanium)It doesn't fold when I use the manual button either. The puddle light and repeater still work. Oh, and now I can't adjust it either. The mirror has got a little bit of play in the fold hinge, whereas the drivers side mirror doesn't.
Any ideas?... Read more
Thanks for the reply.
I've read a lot of the previous post yet can't find the problem I currently have perhaps it's a new one to add to all the other's. When driving usually just after starting out the heap losses power chuffs out black smoke only if your truing to move. If you pull over and put your foot to the floor it still won't rev yet there isn't so much smoke. I've noticed if I over accelerate when first starting out it doesn't seem to happen as much. It can go miles no problems then the next day play up all the time. Most of the other posts say theirs is using oil whereas mine is note using any. Warning lights of water in fuel filter and also fuel injection system fault comes up. That's if the dashboard is actually working at that point. If anyone has any ideas would be grateful. Read more
Had the belt "jumped a couple of teeth" the problems with starting and running would be noticeable. One tooth out would also make a noticeable difference. I asked my last question because I suspect that the timing is not set up correctly now. However, it is difficult for me to tell for sure from your description, without seeing/listening to the engine starting and running. Another point to consider is whether any of the vacuum hoses that operates the turbo/engine management system has either not been put back (correctly) or has a crack/leak somewhere.

The EU-wide transferable warranty isn't always as long as we get in the UK - it used to be 12 months but AFAIK it's now 3 years - so any brand with more than 3 years in the UK may lose out.
Cars aren't "designed" to be sold anywhere in the EU, they're "Type Approved" to be sold throughout the EU - not the same thing....
Fair points all, and I quite understand the logic of a balanced coverage of good and bad service.
But it really is purely the risk of litigation that is behind my caution. Assuming that the complainer isn't making the whole thing up, the likelihood is that there has been stroppiness on both sides. And a stroppy garagiste is likely to be defensive, particularly if it's a small business and he feels his reputation, such as it is, is at stake. ...
