Hi All.
A couple of nights ago on my way home from work, I was in a maximum speed limit single carriage way. There were 3 cars I was approaching sitting at approximately 25 mph. I edged out to the right to see if there was anything causing the hold up for example a push bike. There was nothing in front with no reason to be driving so slow. I indicated out to the right, as I passed the first of 3 cars, the 2nd cars decided it was also going to overtake pulling out without checking her mirrors straight into the front left corner of my vehicle.... No harm in resurrecting an old thread if there's something useful to add.
I'm afraid I don't understand all of what iSways is saying either - although I do wonder if the accident might have been averted if the lady hadn't been giving a curtsy (his last line).
Went to see the Ford Focus that I'm due to pick up tomorrow evening. I noticed that the headlights have some condensation - the Salesman has said that this could be due to the car sitting around in the compound and not being used. I don't know if I should now go ahead with buying the car. Its a bit offputting. I feel a bit panicky about it all. Read more
It's a known thing with Focus headlights. Especially if it's been standing for a while. The moisture will disappear when the lights have been on for a while, they are ventilated to accommodate this. My 15 plate Focus does it as well. It's been a trait of the Focuses from the mark 1.
But if there is any water sloshing around, the seal has gone or the vents are blocked.
I have a 2004 Opel (Vauxhall) Meriva. Occasionally the EPS light comes on and the power assisted steering fails. It has now failed permanently. It is a Portuguese car (and is still in Portugal) but I know from the Internet that this is a well known fault with Vauxhall Merivas. The garage has advised me that the steering column alignment has been adjusted but they believe that the fault will re-occur and that a new steering column is required (hugely expensive!!). I have heard that there are other possible solutions such as a replacing the Steering Angle sensor or Torque Position sensor. Do you have any information that may help to avoid very expensive repairs. I am trying to negotiate with Opel Portugal to meet me half way with the costs but..... Any help would be much appreciated.... Read more
What pedal cover are you refering too and is it easily accessible as i have the same problem.
For some weeks now an eleven year old vehicle has been parked close to my house on the public road. The vehicle has no tax and no MOT. i do not know who it belongs to. I see that there is an official Gov website to use when reporting vehicles with no tax. Has anyone had any experience in how effective this process is in terms of speed and outcome ?

7 WEEKS LATER!-It seems as though this vehicle is taxed and has been since I last posted on this-but still no details on data base.
What circumstances allow the Gov.UK data base to continue to display no tax and no MOT history for over 7 weeks?...
Hi all,
ive just put a new engine in my fiesta 1.4 tdci and things i replaced from my old onto new engine where fuel pressure sensor as other one had broken connector, throttle thing ontop of engine, water pump, everything else came with engine. Once engine was in and i was happy with everything i pumped hand pump to bleed fuel, turned key and it started 1st time, so next day i started it and got orange cog flashing but started 1st time again, the problem is once i start it on the morning it will run as long as i want but once turned off it wont start again until next day? Ive attached photo of live data and code p0191 fuel rail pressure. Any ideas what could be the problem? Do i need a new sensir or does it need bleeding? Cheers.

My 63 reg Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6 e-Hdi EGS has stop/start technology but this has stopped working.
There is a button to deactivate it which lights up when deactivated and flashes when there is a fault, but it is not lit (as i haven't deactivated it) and isn't flashing, but the stop/start doesn't stop or start.
While i wait for monday when i can get it booked in to my local dealer to be looked at, i just thought i'd ask if anyone would be able to advise what the issue may be?
Also, with no stop/start, i'm using the gear selector wheel to put the car into neutral at junctions, traffic lights, in jams etc as i don't want to leave it in gear with the engine running. Am i being overcautious or would leaving the car in gear with the engine running damage the clutch (or something else)?
Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, they tested it and it was at 78% so not the battery level causing the issue.
Hi,
I have a 2010 Peugeot 308 SW and for the past few months have noticed a strange squeaking noise after I drive for a while, when it's going over little bumps in the road or even when stopping and closing the rear doors or the boot.... Read more
Hi, I know this an old post. But do you remember what was the cause of the issue in the end? My car is doing the exact same thing and struggling to find the fault.
I would look at all the exhaust system and mounts first. The rear silencer on the 207SW is attached by a mild-steel strap which easily rusts through. A stainless one is easy to find on the web and fit DiY.
Having read HJ views on driving automatics with left foot braking to maintain full control of the vehicle, I wondered how many of the recent headline stories of out of control cars may be caused by 'pedal confusion’. I found that all these well reported cases all involved automatics and all driven by 80+ year olds as it happens.

So pedal confusion panic could be a factor in all these cases (as could several other factors I admit) but instead of banning 80+ year olds from driving should we stop them driving autos or make left foot braking training compulsory (if that is even possible?) Read more
It depends where you live and the average age of the population there, where I live there are frequently incidents involving elderly drivers. like a 93 year old man who had the misfortune of having the doctors surgery jump out infront of his car which he then had a head on collision with. Luckily there were plenty of medically trained staff inside to help him and his poor elderly wife who had headbutted the windscreen in the collision....
