We bought this seat based on a few reviews. We returned the first one we received as it doesn't positively lock in the sideways position. We've just taken delivery of the replacement which is the same? Your review suggests that it locks when facing sideways but we now have 2 that don't? What are the odds of both being faulty?! Or are we missing something? Read more

If a car has been registered in the UK and the your put a personal plate on, the Car is still linked to that orginal registeration, so when you take the plate off it reverts bqack, is how I understand it.

In an ideal world, perhaps but as the .gov site https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history says, "Some MOT test results for recently transferred personalised registrations aren’t available."

Took delivery of a "demo" Kia venga 2 from a Kia dealer, and pleasantly surprised. Nothing special to write home about, but driving position and hence comfort much superior to the Kia rio 2 1.2 it replaced after I got stuck in the car (difficulty getting out after a journey to Leeds and a friendly garage attendant offered over the tannoy to come out and fill it up for me)

Fuel economy not as good as the rio, but 1.4 instead of 1.2 and more sit up and beg and a bit heavier too. (Between 35-40MPG overall, not complaining)... Read more

I regret that actually coz we are planing on buying a new car next year. but my wife was panicking with the car door which opens when driving

Fair enough then, but we didn't know that from your OP though! Quite right to get it fixed asap if it's a daily driver.

Bought a 2013 Mazda from main dealer in Dec 2014. Before next service was due the oil pressure light came on and a text warned me to stop the vehicle to avoid engine damage.Mazda Assist called, car towed. Courtesy car given...oil change and reprogramme software. I collect car BUT just 5 months later.[Jan 2016]..same thing... stopped car, phoned Mazda assist etc. Mazda dealer will not provide paperwork re what they have done to my car. The guarantee runs out in Sept. I've asked for refund as it is not fit for purpose. All they will do is provide a free oil change. I drive 90 miles a day on a mixture of motorway, country roads and town roads. I don't want a car that has an inherent fault every 5 months..leaving me stranded. What are my next steps ? Read more

The right to reject has to be acted on within 28 days of purchase, and you purchased in Dec 14? and at that time the 'rejection ligislation' had not been implimented

Please can anyone help, I am going mad! We accidentally put too much oil in our Zafira in January-way too much and the engine seized. Our local garage replaced the engine with a second-hand Astra SRI engine that we were told was compatible for our Zafira. The car now runs but has almost no power and the manifold gets red hot after a few minutes. We have taken it to 3 different garages including a Vauxhall dealer, however none of them can tell us the problem, the ECU has been tested and come back fine.

Is it possible the Astra engine was not compatible? The garage put some auxilliaries from our Zafira engine on to the Astra engine when they replaced it-is this ok? The engine had the same model number as our Zafira. We do not know what to try next, please help! Read more

If it's got fault codes, it may help if you tell us what they are.

Just had some work done on the car (MOT failure), but I think I got done on total amount of hours garage spent mending the vehicle, I would like to ask for advice, hopefully from people that work as mechanics or at least have a keen interest in car repairs. I will list the things that were done and hopefully you could let me know the hours that it should take to fulfill the tasks. Thanks a lot in advance.

isn't the decision to change or not is to be made by me and not the garage?

Yes. Age? Mileage? It is not clear from the above what exactly failed and what was merely an advisory. Bearing 'failure' from roughness or free play is somewhat subjective. Brakes should work almost as well at 1mm pad thickness as new. Most pads are changed far too early, never allowing the pistons to travel far, inviting corrosion and early caliper failure. Discs, with an occasional rust service, should last many tens of thousands of miles, depending how you drive. (Mine have usually lasted 100,000m)...

You tax a vehicle when you register it with DVLA. Overseas car importation can seem daunting even to an experienced collector- what’s with the procedures, paperwork, and other hidden costs. However, as with almost everything else, a clear understanding of the process makes a huge difference. As a US expat in the UK, I wanted to import a new ford mustang for more than 12 months of use and thus I had to part with 10% import duty and 20% VAT. I also had to pay US taxes, FBAR, for my foreign account combined balance exceeded $30K by the FBAR deadline of April 15th. I spent $1000 to ship in a consolidated container from Port of Los Angeles to Felixstowe. After inspection, I registered with DVLA of which it took 7 weeks to receive the registration certificate.
