My 207 (2006, 1.4) used to start fine by turning the ignition key alone, but now I also need to apply some throttle else I just hear the starter motor with no hint of ignition. Once it's started I have no issues and it will idle happily. The engine warning light on the dashboard goes out a couple of seconds after the engine has started.

This may not be relevant, but the very old battery was recently changed due to an interesting day when I had "electrical fault" warning on the display followed by ABS warning light, dim headlights and eventually power steering failure. There's been no issues since replacing the battery.... Read more

Thank you both for your comments. I don't think the car has a MAF sensor, so I'll see if the local garage can see anything on the diagnostics.

I've noticed that on start up there is a clunk from the brake pedal, it physically moves once the key is released and engine starts normally. It can be quite loud sometimes and not at all at others.

It occurs intermittently and at first I though it was a ventilation flap slamming shut, it's that sort of noise.... Read more

Doing this intermittently its probably losing vacuum over a period of a few hours, thats nothing to worry about, but might explain why it doesn't always perform for you.

Try pressing the brake pedal several times engine off to use up the vacuum, if it clunks then at least you will be able to demonstrate to the mechanic exactly whats happening, its probably nothing too alarming but i too would be checking it out.

oem tyres are 256/40R 21 104 y . I want to shift to high profile tyres . Can i go upto 65/70

The oem tyres dont last on rough , pot hole filled roads. Pls suggest rugged tyres that will help in off roading on mud terrain.... Read more

You'll probably find winter tyre sizes in the handbook or possibly on the tyre pressure sticker (fuel filler flap?), that would be a good starting point, then find the correct sized wheels to suit, probably 17 or 18" (doubt you'll get 16" on with the size of the brakes but you never know) off a lower properly specced model.

Alternatively your dealer service desk should know what size wheels and tyres you can fit instead....

I now have the police cars chasing me and an owl in my glove box! It's fairly quiet at the moment, but quite noticeable when the engine is cold, spooling up and down between 1 and 2k revs when driving. It goes away when the engine is up to full operating temp. Car has full mostly VW service history, no expense spared and is immaculate. 57k miles. It is however 12 years old and these cars have a bad rep for reliability. It pulls well and does not smoke or use oil. Should I just ignore it or spend a small fortune on a new or recon turbo? Read more

I would ignore it unless something actually fails or you can feel its not running right. Preventative maintenance is all very well but it comes very expensive nowadays.

Hi, I have very recently bought a Peugeot 207 hid. Active 2011. I have a problem with the central locking. The central locking doesn't work, however if I open the door manually and then put the key in the ignition and turn it to the first position all the doors unlock. The remote will then lock and unlock for a while. But if I leave it for an hour it stops working. Also the clock keeps resetting to 1/1/2007. If I start the engine and reset it it will stay for a while, again after 1/2 hour when I restart the engine the clock he's returned to 1/1/2007.
The starts ok.
Thank you for any help. Read more

I think I would start by checking all the fuses in both the engine bay and cabin fuseboxes.

Its a known issue on the Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1, might give you something to go on:

...and just over 500 miles)

Very little makes me smile these day's but this little beauty does!

An absolutely perfect 'city car'. Ideal for buzzing around MK and its environs.

Lovely to look at and offers an extremely comfortable driving position - for someone who likes to think they're still 6' tall - i.e. bags of space above my head, but perhaps a little tight for any adults sitting in the rear?

Very well spec'd in the Premium trim. Have yet to deploy Cruise Control and Limiter as don't get much opportunity and when I do I forget they're available!

I can't really tell you anything about (accurate) fuel economy as I've never been that obsessed about that aspect. I'm clearly not doing journeys long enough to get any real idea. Max journey mileage in any one direction so far has only been 28.

It really is a pleasure to drive, so much so that I only now ever use the A3 at weekends or if I'm doing 100-miles somewhere midweek in one hit. Feels very precise when you point & steer it. Smooth gearchanges and adequate acceleration as/when required.

So, yes, at the moment I can't speak highly enough of it as a 'fit for purpose' purchase... Read more
