Hi, we have a zafira as our large family car, need a replacement for my faithful astra G as it can't fit 3 baby seats in the back, plus eldest daughters have almost no legroom now behind me if I am driving (I am 6ft 4 and usually have the seat fully back on any car.
There is 13 cm behind my chair and front of rear seat, exactly the same as in a new golf mk7 we looked at in a dealer today (although golf does fit 3 kids seats across)
Tiguan had 17cm, Jetta had 19cm but the car is longer than we like or need, we live in London and ease of parking is a major issue, and why we don't just go for another zafira type car.

A golf 1.4 petrol would have been ideal if it had only had a few more cm space rear legroom, we don't need boot space for second car.

Also looked at the next door Audi garage, the A3 was even tighter in the back.

Due to wife's company car allowance scheme, we kind of have to go with a new car or nearly new through main dealer route. Read more

i did try the Leon - test drive lasted about 400m, i turned around at first opportunity and said 'no thanks' to the guy as i just couldnt stand the left foot footrest that completely got in my way and was uncomfortable for my size 11's

have binned other VAG cars since for exact same reason, and there has been enough bad press about their auto boxes that i'm kind of put off them to be honest....

I believe that a 10% over leeway is allowed when speed is checked by the usual speed cameras. Thus a 50mph limit is in fact 55.

Is this still the case when the cameras on smart motorways are used? Does anyone know for certain? Read more

It's not available from PSA as a separate part. The "O" ring will be hard and flattened, causing the leak.

Hi

I have a 1.9 TDi that is now 8 years old with 140 000 miles on the clock. It does 25 miles daily one way and get's new oil every 10k. It is still working fine no issues, but I am wonderimg is it worth cleaning the EGR valve? Will that be worth doing and is a expensive? Or do you just drive it till it gives you problems? Will it damage the turbo or something?... Read more

Most correspodents on here seem more worried about their radio/CD than the outside wirld.

They do? Doesn't seem like most of th regular posters you see on here....

Does anyone know of, or had experience of recovery insurance that includes recovery due to a drivers incapacity to drive because of illness? I have had a negative response from Green Flag and cannot see such a situation mentioned in any other provider. As I am now in my mid 70's and my wife does not drive I feel such cover would be prudent. Read more

As ever Google is your best first port of call.

Both Aviva and Gem recovery services include recovery due to driver illness. Just check the small print that there isn't an age limitation....

craig-pd130

The PD130 motor should normally do its best work between around 1,750 and 3,000rpm.

It sounds like the camshaft timing is slightly out following a cambelt change. On this engine, the diesel injectors work like hypodermic needles, they are pressurised by a lobe on the camshaft which pushes the 'plunger' to atomise the fuel. If the camshaft timing (which is adjustable) is slightly out, pressure will build up either too early, or too late. ... Read more

Could it be linked to occasionally going into limp mode (without light) ?

maybe, maybe not. The turbo vanes on the PD motors can and do get sticky, which causes overboost that puts the motor in limp mode. This usually clears when you switch off and restart the car, until the next time it happens.
