Last year I had a complete new clutch and DMF replaced
About 5,000 miles later the clutch as started slipping when the car as warmed up, it's fine when cold and I've also noticed oil leaking from the gear box.
What is the likely cause of this.
It's not my driving I did 100,000 miles on the original clutch
Thanks

Thanks for that, is it a big job?
I am restoring a G reg MR2 (engine code 3S-FE) and have had the engine out. Now it's back in it won't rev at all. It idles OK but as soon as I touch the throttle the engine just dies.
It seems to me that it might be a sensor but have been unable to pinpoint it.... Read more
From memory this engine (2litre 16valve?) has vacuum operated variable inlet tracts. There is a vacuum pipe towards the rear of the engine that actuates this feature. If the vacuum pipe is not connected then in effect the engine is running lean and is prone to stall when the throttle is open.
Hi, I brought a second hand van 7 weeks ago from a dealer, the engine started knocking very loudly last week so I sent it back to the dealer. When I bought the van it came with a warranty of 3 months or 3000 miles which ever comes first unfortunately I have exceeded the mileage, the dealer has said his hands are tied and he can't repair replace the engine. I paid £10,000 for this vehicle I excpect it to last longer than 7 weeks. I have been in touch with the dealer he said as it was bought on a business to business transaction I don't have any statoury rights. Has anyone else had a similar issue as I may have to take him to court if he doesn't play ball. Read more
Thanks for the updates.
I'm surprised your legal advice has been to attempty to reject the van if the dealer refuses to do the repair. My understanding is that rejection should take place reasonably quickly after a sale, though I believe the time period is not specified. Seven weeks seems a long time. As I understand it, the logic is that the more the vehicle has been used, the less likely it is that the fault was present at the time of sale....
When I took my driving test the examiners used to test whether the testees were emotionally adequate to drive by sadistically trying to frighten them when giving the signal for the emergency stop. When I took my test cars generally had metal dashboards (Ford Anglia…) and the examiners would smash their clipboard against the metal and scream, “STOP”. I believe they don’t do it now. Is it because of the state they left some drivers in, or because cars now have cushioned dashboards ? My examiner was a sadistic thug. He almost wrecked the dashboard and screamed while I was concentrating on a woman wheeling a pram across the road and a child straying close to the kerb. Then he asked me to do the reverse around a corner and park.
The wife of one of my work-mates was taking her test when the examiner screamed and smashed, and when she hit the brake the hydraulic pipe burst. She burst too, into tears, and the car sailed on. The examiner hauled on the handbrake, took over and drove her back to the test centre.... Read more
This thread sounds like "Tales from the driving test centre waiting room" LOL!!

Hi there
I've just taken a deposit from a private buyer for our Audi TT which has a private plate on it. We would like to keep the plate and put it on retention and put the original plates (we physically have them) back on the car for the new owner. I realise this will cost us £105.... Read more
Last year I bought a car with a private plate from a vendor who wished to keep it for his new car. He was presumably too busy to do the paper work. Eventually, he had to post his completed form to me plus a cheque for £80 to the DVLA and trust me to send them on to the DVLA together with my V5c and MoT certificate. I was pleased to receive its original reg number as I was fed up having to explain a distinctive but (to me) meaningless moniker.

My new Insignia SRi collected on Friday has no rear adjustable air vents behind the central front arm rest.

Contact the dealer....what for?
Minor yearly trim revisions and the addition or deletion of equipment are totally normal particulalrly with high volume manufacturers. There are now 5 years between the two and I will wager your new `facelifted` one has something the old one didnt. ...
I have comprehensive converage on another vehicle, and certificate stated I will be covered as third party when driving another car, with condition that the car should insured without my name on the policy.
I had borrowed a car from friend to tie me over a couple of weeks while searching for a car for myself. The car has valid tax disc and even breakdown cover. However, she had failed to mention that she had cancelled her insurance policy in last December, which should last till this August. The reason she did not mention was she thought that it was sufficient with my insurance coverage.... Read more
