So I've finally decided to get a Renault Scenic. I apreciate it may not be the wisest of choices given some of the reliability problems reported but I loved my 51 plate scenic (Ernie - I miss him daily) and I hate my supposedly ultra reliable Focus C-Max so I'm making the decision with heart over head.
Hoping someone might be able to advise me model wise. I'm looking at the 04-09 models and thinking the 1.5 Diesel as a good compromise with power/economy. Would love to find one with the panoramic roof too but a bit worried about leaks?... Read more

Daughter returned to her car ro find extensive damage to the front end (over £1K). Embedded in her car was what looks like a towing eye hole, cover plate. The numbers on it seem to indicate it's from a Daihatsu Sirion, but as they're as rare as hen's teeth I think it's unlikely.
Anyone here identify the part number or format to throw some light on the identity of the perpetrator's car please?... Read more
You have my sympathies too, very frustrating. GB, you state this is on the increase I'm not sure what evidence you have to support that claim.
Likewise your wife has my sympathies but if this has happened to her three times maybe she should reconsider how or where she parks.
Been mentioned on here before about holding two Driv Licences. This clarifies.
The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2015
wef 25th March 2015
Regulation 4 prohibits a person from holding more than one Great Britain, Northern Ireland or Community driving licence. Any breach of this regulation is an offence under section 91 of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 (c. 53). There is an exception made in the case of those who hold a document authorising them to drive a motor vehicle which was issued by a state before the date on which that state became a member State or the date on which that state became a party to the EEA agreement.... I have a 57 reg passat 2.0 TDI, done 133,000 miles. I bought the vehicle second hand last year. A few days ago, I was driving, all of a sudden I got engine warning lights and messages, the car lost all power and steering, came to an abrupt stop, and wouldn't turn back on. It was towed to a local garage who replaced a damaged injector. I happened to be aware of a recall for all four injectors being replaced, so I contacted VW who said this vehicle was recalled in 2011 and all four injectors were replaced. Please could anyone help me out, as to why I have just had to replace one of the injectors, which was damaged. I am now worried about driving the vehicle, as the way it came to a sudden stop the other day was dangerous, next time I may not be on a quiet road... what should I do? Read more
Yes, the garage I took it to disconnected one injector at a time, to find the faulty one and replaced it. I'm just a little concerned that VW said this car was recalled in 2011 and had all four injectors replaced, yet I have had to replace one of those 3 and a half years later. Shouldn't they last longer than that?
Dear HonestJohn
For my Nissan Quashqai 360, bought in Feb. 2013, I found two areas on chassis at the back of the car, closed to two wheels corroded badly, very surprised and disappointed. A video is attached, shown below. It is a quality issue. The vehicle has only been used for two years, of about 21,000 miles. It's within the warranties. The vehicle is used for general driving between office and home, of city driving in East Midlands in England. It has been maintained very well in the garage. ... Read more

I had a car tracked at a garage and found a pair of mole grips still attached to the rod.
I've still got them!
I have just bought a Y reg Renault megane 1.4 with a Phillips radio and we don't have the radio code. Can anyone help us out? Read more
If it is the original radio from new, then a Renault dealer may be able to supply the code from vehicle Vin number.Otherwise you will need to pull out the radio to obtain the s/number for either dealer or glee-bay decoders.
Hoping someone can help me here; my 2002 Peugeot 307 HDI 110bhp is displaying the 'Air Pollution' Fault (seems to be fairly common). The turbo does not appear to be working and I have tried suggested clearing methods (such as 50mph in third gear) but this just resulted in the ESP warning light and limiting the car to about 2600 revs. I've notice oil beneath the intercooler pipe(?).. at both the engine end and intercooler(?) end. Apologies, I have no idea if this is the correct pipe but by process of research I suspect it is. Are symptoms / faults related? I fear an expensive repair, if indeed the problem can actually be found. I'm trying to avoid the process of having various parts replaced without finding the fault. Thanks in advance. Read more
Good result for the OP.
pmmonline.co.uk/technical/turbochargers-diagnostic...s also gives a good summary. Main point they make, above all, is that diagnosis has to consider the turbo control systems, as well as the turbo mechanical state, and to correct the cause of problems.
Has anyone transferred files from an old PC running Vista to Windows 8.1 on a new PC?
I understand that 8.1 does not support "Easy transfer"... Read more
When Microsoft abandoned XP I decided on a change. I was a bit fed up with some of Windows quirks anyway. I wiped it from my laptop and installed Ubuntu software.
I saved any relevant data on a memory stick and recovered it perfectly. One thing about Ubuntu, which is a Linux based operating system; the 'bad guys' don't seem keen to go after it. It is not a major player in the cheme of things so it is not worth the effort to try to crack it and develop viruses. It does everything else that Windows did for me. Also it is free to download from the internet and offers technical support and forums....

Either really. I also think the new Discovery Sport looks like Les Dawson gurning so don't take any notice of me.
