I bumped into a car last week and broke the indicator of a side wing mirror of the other car. I want to compensate for the damage without claiming the insurance. The owner of the car (A Suzuki Grand Vitara) presented a quote of £212.60, most of which for labour (4 hours). I have asked to have another quote. I wanted him to take it to a garage I know, or at least somewhere else. He said the other garage is not handy enough, as for location etc. I would like to know what is the best procedure in this situation, if I have the right to more than a quote, and if he can claim my insurance without my approval. Just bought an N13 as a little run around, the near side front window just drops about a quarter when driving. I've had it wedged up but it's a bit annoying.
I am assuming I need a new regulator, but the motor does whir when the button is pressed as if it is trying to move. Does this mean the motor is working fine but something is damaged on the pulley or the track? Strangely enough the rear one will go down under its own power but won't go back up. I'm just hoping for an easy fix I suppose.. ... Read more
Fixing the teeth is probably more trouble than its worth. Might have found a breaker on eBay, for the mean time I've just wedged some precision engineered 2 x 4 in the door panel to hold it securely.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to fit one of these to an up and over garage door? I'll have all the tools needed. Read more
Are you going to fit a bow arm as part of the installation. ?
If the headache adblue on lorries can be is anything to go by, then an out of warranty car so equipped might be an interesting development, no doubt by passable, even quietly switchable when the aftermarket tuners currently de-dpfing get to grips with the system.

We've appear to have had these for years in the UK. They change lanes without looking or indicating, undertake other vehicles, don't give way at roundabouts etc. They sure seem to be unguided driver free zones, so whats the difference with these abominations that Google are imposing on us? Maybe theses would be driven properly? Who knows it might catch on. Read more
what a waste of 100 million pounds no one wants these vehicles it appears they still need a human in the car. Just another gimmick so we can say we lead the way in the world. Trying to be teachers pet and like so many of these ideas we end up with egg on our face.
It's long overdue for Road Tax to be abolished and put the extra tax required on the price of petrol. I now only do 7000 miles per annum yet I am still expected to pay the same £180 as someone that does 20000+ miles per annum. Totally unfair and shows how greedy the government are. Read more
Wasn't road tax abolished in the 1930's!

In my opinion FP your closing sentence clarifies the tone of your post, 'Sorry to be yet another bearer of bad news - but that's how I see it.'
You have given your view on the situation politely and factually....
