I've got an 02 Fabia but it's only got one key and I'd like to get a spare. Timpsons have quoted my £110, and a dealer £107 (£57 for the key, £50 for programming). HJ pointed me in the direction of the directory on the site but of the 3 I tried to contact, one's website was no longer online, another didn't reply and the third don't do Skoda keys.
There must surely be a cheaper way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.... Read more

Having got through a set of original Toyo tyres in 15,000 miles my car has covered since new, is there an alternative wheel/tyre that can be fitted or will this upset the speedo etc. I hate low profiles so much I look at cars with the old fashion rubber with absolute envy. Read more

If it helps, the Toyo R31'S (195/45/16 80w) were 220 treadwear and the Yoko's (195/45/16 84W) are 300 so should last several thousand more miles !...
Hi I have a Ford Mondeo 2.0TDCi. 3 times over the last 6 months the car has hesitated and during gear change the revs do not return to idle. I have changed the switch on the clutch pedal, no better. when the car hiccups it does so for a few days then the Glow Plug light comes on and the car goes to idle with no revs. Turn off and start again and all ok. The fault code P0221 is showing on the ecu. If it was an old mini i would clean the carb, thats what it feels like. Read more

I've put my number plates in number plate holders but unfortunately,they cover the makers name and the BS number.Is this illegal and would my car fail the mot because of this? Read more

Ford Focus 2008 1.6 tdci zetec I have engine malfunction coming on when I start the vehicle . No loss of power or other symptoms . I can drive 100 yards down the road flick ignition switch on /off and it will clear , but if I stop and then restart the fault re appears . You can check fault codes on the focus by holding in the button on the left stalk
Just got off the phone to broadspeed who seemed very honest and helpful.
He said the price they have quoted me for my Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSD with 2k worth of options would be £21k however if I wanted to purchase this car on the current 0% PCP deal, it would put the price up around £1400 as the dealers wouldn’t have that much more room for margins.... Read more
I'd like to agree with Skidpan re Carfile. I've bought 2 cars through them and was pleased with the easy way it went.
Carfile put you in touch with the main dealer with the quoted price and you deal with and pay them....
Ah the receiving, amplification and rebroadcast of the real fob signal - never thought of that but sounds plausible and could perhaps be used to start the car too.
