Vauxhall Meriva - Number plates

Vauxhall Meriva - Number plates - vauxhall

I've put my number plates in number plate holders but unfortunately,they cover the makers name and the BS number.Is this illegal and would my car fail the mot because of this?

The makers name and BS number are not part of the test.As long as the reg number characters are legible,then no problem.

MOT tetster's manual refers to the number plate as having:

"a margin obviously less than the minimum requirement"

If the OP's number plate holder is obstructing parts of the plate could they not fall foul of this?

Possibly,but is any tester going to measure this"obviously less" dimension as there are no figures stipulated.? Section 6.3 page 5 Testers manual.
