Hello,
Got a part time fuel & temp guage on an N13, it will work for the first 10-15 minutes of operation and then just die, until its left to stand then will work again for another brief period. I've had the clocks out and the connections all look okay, but with a car of this era those are probably the two most important guages :)... Read more

If the pump is driven from the cam belt which many are, it means removing and changing the cambelt as well so there is a fair ammount of labout involved.
I recently bought a one year old Ford Cmax Titanium X from my local Ford dealership and have been unable to resolve a problem of misting headlights. They mist up after a run if the car is parked in rain or is washed, or it’s a cold day. It seems that moisture in the units evaporates when the car is in use and then condenses on the cold surface of the lens.... Read more
Can't remember which model it was and it wasn't the headlights it was the front foglights. Saw the feature on an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" when they'd bought a Jaguar.
During their renovation they removed a foglight, think it was broken, and it had two rubber pipes attached as well as the wiring connector. Edd China expalined that the pipes were to pass air through the lighting unit to keep it free of condensation....

I am replacing the bushes on the rear subframe on my '98 Fiesta Ghia 1.25 Zetec-S 16v over the weekend but I've seen a couple of different sizes. To avoid getting the wrong ones, does anyone on here know the correct size for my car? Read more

Check the o rings on the inlet manifold, known to rot and allow coolant to leak down the back of the engine to the sump.
Hi guys.
Any info/advice would be appreciated.
My avensis had the engine warning light come on three days ago as well as the parking brake fault. Noticed straight away that I had lost a lot of power when accelerating. Now feels like I'm driving a 1l corsa or something similar.
Brought it to the local Toyota garage and they have diagnosed a "faulty EDU drive" and said it will be upwards of a thousand euro for the part and labour.
Basically I'd love to know if anyone has any experience or info on this. Does it sound legitimate? Should I get another opinion before I go ahead with it?
Thanks very much for any replies.

A quick google suggests it is a fuel metering unit.

The car will start from cold no problem, but when the engine is warm or hot the car is struggling. It takes about 4 or 5 attempts, but eventually the car will start, but it struggles for about 10 seconds on low revs, then the revs will climb and the engine ticks over fine. The car is driving well and we have seen no drop in power, warning lights or excessive smoke.
I took the car to a mechanic and he advised that the actuator rod on the turbo is not opening when we are trying to start the car, this is therefore ‘choking’ the engine, causing it to struggle.... Read more
UPDATE
Thanks for the replies, I have booked the car into the dealership where I bought it from; it's a bit of a drive, but my brother-in-law works there, so I know I'm not going to get ripped-off! They are going to connect it to the diagnostics machine to check for fault codes, update the software and re-calibrate the injectors....
Yeah it does. The guide I found showed a similar metal plug but with a regulator that was accessible inside. At least on this one without gauging it out I can't see me getting to it.
