Typical ignorance above where people don't know the difference between a hybrid and an electric car! Anyway cars don't come much duller looking than a Golf or Audi A3 Sportback (I've got one) but they are incredibly highly thought of.
I need to buy a new car pretty quickly and needs to be 7 seater as have 3 small kids and need to be able to take more kids.
I have narrowed it down to Discovery sport SE Tech or BMW X5 3.0TD xDrive30d M Sport. Both are similar price (BMW is second hand 2013) but can't deicde

Why have Landrover launched a car with an obsolete engine, which will be replaced not long after the launch?
If you want the Landrover I should get down to the dealer pretty quick, there is a waiting list....

But yes, I'm happy with the £30 ved.
My 2012 116i petrol has less than 20K miles. Owned from new.
I have had intermittent vibration through clutch pedal for last 18 months but getting worse. Occurs when driving off in first on point of bite.Taken it to BMW dealer a couple of times but have not been able to reproduce it. Stated to notice after software upgrade but this may be coincidence.
Can go for days without it happening. Can happen when cold or hot, beginning or during extended journey - or not at all.
Last occasion was in stop start motorway journey (neural &!handbrake) each time I moved off.
Is it likely to be clutch / dmf related or could some other hydraulic or electrical problem be the cause?
If it is clutch related why is it intermittent/periodic? Read more
You can certainly roast it a bit to "resurface" the friction plate.
I am very easy on clutches in normal use, I have never had to replace one despite having had a few high mileage cars that probably had worn linings when I got them. But I have suffered what was probably glazing - manifested not as judder but as slip....
Hi
A delivery driver using his own vehicle reversed into my car whilst it was parked at my place of work. Driver admitted liability, his insurance company admitted liability but they kept messing myself and the garage around with booking a date for my car repair. On the advice of my motor legal people, garage and my own insurance, i requested that they pay me the money so i could arrange repairs at my convenience.... Read more
This link explains the situation fairly well providing you have a basic understanding of how the RTA works in relation to Insurance.
Hi
I recently bought this car and went over a speed bump after this all the elactrics to the centre console stopped working. Ive checked the fuses there fine, now the heating, SAt Nav, Stereo have stopped working.... Read more
This symptom is normally a failure within the Sat Nav DVD drive.
The solder joints on a tiny component crack, causing the operating voltage for the DVD, Screen, Stereo and Climate Control to stop being supplied....
Ludicrous waste of time, momey and resources IMO. Phone is use does not mean, and will be hard to prove, phone in use illegally!
It's in testing though - they are still developing it.
Hi all, hoping for some advice on our issue.
We bought a brand new Nissan Qashqai in May 2014. On the drive home, noticed three 'service faults' and a problem with the camera. (Called the dealership the same day and told them.)... Read more
Thank you both for your replies, appreciated.
Nissan have honestly done their best to make a complete mess of situation. ...
I bought a '57 plate DSG Gti 3 months ago from a second hand dealer. He preformed an MOT with no advisorys, changed the dsg fluid and gave it a full service. 3 months and only 1000 miles later the DSG mechatronics have failed and I'm facing a £900 bill. It onlt had a 30 warranty. Do I have any recourse whatsoever???? Read more
marvellous chap that dealer, loves his mum and performed a previously unheard of gearbox oil change at sale point, presumably out of the goodness of his heart, and now that gearbox has gone wrong, is it me.
I hope no one has started work on the gearbox before the seller has had a chance to fix it.

Disconnect the wire from the temperature sender unit and touch it to earth with the ignition on. What does the temp guage read?
