I’m not surprised, after I’d had a bump it was the insurance
claim team who put me through to a solicitor, I didn’t mention compensation, they did! For those who really have been injured it’s only right and fair they should be able to claim whiplash
compensation. When you see the maximum compensation amounts of up to £119,900 for a severe neck injury it's not surprising! http://www.wrighthassall.co.uk... Read more

Presumably that will be a 'new' D5 four pot as is the new D4? I'm biding my time with the new ones as I have a V40 with the 5 pot D3 but the new D4 engined V40's are a bit expensive for me. I like the D3 but it's very thirsty and I am only managing an average of about 42 mpg from 40/60% town/motorway driving.
Once the new D4 engined cars drop a bit I plan to change mine, either for another V40 or maybe V60. I'd be interested to keep tabs on how the new Volvo diesels perform.
Does anyone have any heads-up on if/when the more powerful diesel engine will be offered in the X-Trail ? The current lower-powered 130PS engine is somewhat underpowered beside the Mazda 175PS and (new) Honda 160PS engines. Read more
As yet its only a rumour.
Hi,
I have recently had a problem with the grey connector plug that fits on the rear of the of No 4 cylinder coil pack, the clip tab on the connector has broken and this causes the plug to move around ,causing the coil pack to not fire properly. I have currently taped the plug to the coil pack to keep it in place so that I can use the car.... Read more
If it was me, I wouldn't go to the extent of chopping the loom if an easier solution can be found. Ie if the tape is holding the connector okay - leave it. Could you not utilise a cable tie in or around the plug? Or even drop a blob of glue from a glue gun on the broken tab area just to secure it. By chopping the loom you could create more problems than you solve and on a ten year old car how much effort do you really want to make?
Hello hopefully someone here can help, as I'm on the verge of being car-less, jobless, very depressed and stressed.
I've had my license for around 12 years, cover 25,000 miles a year and never had an accident until I was involved in a non-fault accident which lead to a fatality at the scene.... Read more
Surely the third party's insurance company are obliged to keep you on the road, clearly they don't want to pay for something that could be open-ended, BUT it is their client at fault and you are one of the innocent parties that are now put in a position that you weren't in before their client caused the accident.
Maybe a consultation with a solicitor, or a letter to the third party and/or their insurance company saying that you hold them responsible for the accident and that if they don't return you to the position you were in before the incident you will take them to court. This will often focus their minds as you will probably win in court....

I fancy a spare just in case, although they're supposedly quite reliable. I know where they are in the old 9-3 and the 9-5 diesels, but can anyone advise whether the 9-3 SS diesels have them, and any other types of vehicle I might target at the breakers yard?
It seems they are more frequently installed as standard equipment on the continent since its colder.... Read more
Thanks for your replies Gentlemen.
Anyone know any other vehicles which have them?...
A word of gentle advice.

Note that some (maybe most) insurance companies issue a "statement of fact" with their renewal notices. This may be an EU thing...
Statements of fact are however not accepted as proof of NCD etc by insurance compines!!! They require you to send them the renewal invitation....
I'll second the crankshaft pulley. look for an orange dust around it, if it has then its breaking up inside. very common on the hdi's for these to squeak and rattle. When these fail, they tend to pull the cambelt with them so well worth getting checked!
