Hi I have a 1999 Vectra. After you have removed ignition key the dash board lights come on, sometimes straight away and sometimes hours later. I have discovered if I flick the wiper stick it turns the dash lights off, (for a while).

One time after I removed key the engine carried on running, until I flicked wiper stick. And the wipers were going on there own during the middle of the night. Hence running battery down.... Read more

Railroad.

Check for any broken earth wires around the engine bay and under the dash. Make sure you check the earth on the wiper motor too.

"he picked up the nearest vegetable and hooked it up to the starter"

Wrong! It would have to be connected between the contact points in the distributor and earth. It has nothing to do with the starter. Read more

Earth? Seems about right then.

One word say's it superb!!, the third generation Superb is better than ever, very stylish looks on the outside, enough room on the inside to hold a rave, no doubt there's an estate in the pipeline. The 280 PS sounds great, will it be badged VRS, all of which poses the question why pay more for a VW Passat or much more for an Audi A6 something to do with badge stupidity I think Read more

Hey retard, do you have a life?

Surely a limo should be accentuating length rather than width? It's a shame it appears to have less design of it's own than the old Superb, clearly they were aiming for a generic Large Skoda look rather than anything specific which is always a shame.

Also, 120PS and 190PS is an interesting choice of power outputs (the 1.6 presumably being 90/105PS). The old superb and most rivals have their best selling models around 140-150PS. Read more

Carb cleaner, throttle body cleaner, MAF sensor cleaner, EGR cleaner etc.

What are the differences?... Read more

MeMikeyou?

A lot of these cleaners are just IsoPropyl Alcohol. the worry is residues left by the cleaner itself. IPA doesn't leave much (if any) residue so is a preferred cleaner. It dissolves lots of stuff. Google it and go on from there IMO. :)

My partners 2010 Ford Ka has just failed an MOT with corrosion to the nearside rear suspension mounting point for the rear axle, the corrosion has cause the part of the bracket which holds the near side rear brake pipe and also handbrake cable to fail. This allowed the brake pipe and cable to hang down beneath the car just in front of the near side rear wheel. We took the car to the Ford dealer from which the car was purchased approximtely 2 years earlier and after inspecting the failed bracket and the corrosion they couldn't have cared less. Having pointed out that the corrosion of this part was unacceptable on a 5 year old car (bearing in mind the car is on it's original exhaust) and that it may be a safety issue as it allows the near side rear brake pipe to hang down unsupported and may cause the brake pipe to fail again they were not interested.

We have now had the suspension mounting replaced at the garage where the MOT was carried out but wonder whether it is worth letting Ford themselves know that they may have a potential safety issue or to contact VOSA and make them aware? Read more

Took to garage to have rear brake cylinders replaced a couple of days later brake pedal nearly touches the floor if you lightly push pedal released and apply brake pedal all OK thought might just want bleeding. Took it back to garage they say they can't bleed the be makes maybe master cylinder or brake servo anyone have any ideas Read more

I suspect its the rear cylinders causing the problem, it wouldn't be the first nor last time.

Worse example i ever had of slave cyls refusing to bleed was on Series Landrovers, drums all round so 6 slave cyls moving in and out and the air with them as you attempted to pump bleed them, didn't have a pressure bleeder in those days, whether it would have done the job i don't know....

SWMBO has a new job involving a 30 minute 7 a.m. commute mostly along the A4 in Wiltshire, but including a few 'white roads' too.

The Jazz (great for carrying everything and an incredibly creative design) is a little lightweight (a personal view) in any wind over 10 mph, so we're wondering about something built with rather more quality and less focus on 'light-weight'.... Read more

Small cars are great around town, but on longer trips not so good. I recently wend to glasgow from mk in a 1.6 focus and it used more petrol than my 3.0 jag!!

Maybe consider a bigger car/engine for a more relaxing ride....
