After three Roomster Tdi's we have arrived at a hiatus, the 1.6TDi excellent except a lack of grunt. We love the space and comfort of the TDi but the latest iterration lacks the 1.9's power despite Skoda's claims of 105hp.

Can we break the chain and buy something with the same space within a small car but with more urge? Would the Honda CRV Diesel be more satisfying or maybe a VAG htach with 140hp be a better idea?

Do you need a diesel? Unless your annual mileage is very high, it may be worth looking at a Roomster (or a Yeti) with the 1.2 TSI petrol engine - the version with 105 bhp. It could be livelier than the 1.6 diesel and only a little less economical.

Hello everyone
Having a spot of bother with my little Chevrolet Matize.
Was stopped at traffic lights the radio went off all warning light started to flash and the engine stoped.
A passing motorist kindly stopped and got the car going with jump leads. All was fine for a day same thing happened luckily at home. Put new battery in started up everything sweet, a day later whilst driving put the wipers on which worked very slowly, radio died and all lights flashed up again and the engine cut out.
Any ideas pretty please ....???
Kind regards

Don't bother fitting indicators to the cars sold in the Billingham area-they're not used. Read more

BMW & Mercs appear to no longer have indicators ! or the drivers were born without arms !! or may be they are an optional extra !!

Its frustrating at busy roundabout when drivers dont signal as it makes traffic wait that may of been able to proceed causing unessasary traffic delays...

What are the differences in the Psa engines coded RHK and RHR?... Read more

Looks like the same engine with the Rhr having a slightly higher power output.

If you are running a family business and you need to insure your son or daughter or another family member, who is under the age of 25 years old, then certain companies will not quote for the younger driver on a motor trade policy. This then causes a dilema as you may be quoted quite a lot for the younger driver on a stand alone policy for them. The market for this appears to have shrunk in recent years and there are not a huge amount of providers who will offer the younger driver cover on the traders policy. There are basically only two insurers on the market that can offer this and so, if your broker does not have access to these insurers then you might be snookered and unable to get a decent quote. Having looked around the market, we have stumbled across one broker called xxxx. They seem to have come up with a couple of options where others dont. If you are looking for a younger driver quote, try them at xxxx

Then they aren't a proper broker - they have access to all insurers.

While giving someone a lift they commented on that why did put the car in neutral when stationery? I didn't have an answer to why but I just thought it was better than leaving it in gear.

Not much in it with a slush box. Less mechanical wear if left in D; the slip will put some heat into the transmission fluid but there will be some theoretical wear on the actuation mechaniam and brake bands if you go into neutral and back. Neither should be a problem with typical usage.

With DSG you must keep your foot on the brake if you leave it in D, to back off the clutch. Handbrake does not disengage clutch (at least on ours) although I am told that the gearbox will disengage it as a self-protection measure after a period, but I haven't tried it.

Sorry i find the grill awful, the wheels too large and the head lights too retangle.

The older models were better looking.

Hi - The taxi driver was really pleased to tell me all about his Avensis when I gushed at how quiet & smooth the ride was. He told me to go for the V-matic model (2009 onward). That's going to be quite a stretch for me financially but could manage a pre-2009 model easier. Is there that much difference between them? I'd appreciate any advice. Read more

I've asked a question about EPB or not on the facelift Avensis link kindly provided by Auristocrat, awaiting moderation.

I suspect disappointment will follow, it's the one thing that ruins and rules out the car for me, we'd have bought an auto tourer long ago otherwise.
