Skoda Roomster 1.6tdi - Roomster replacement - Tim Hale
After three Roomster Tdi's we have arrived at a hiatus, the 1.6TDi excellent except a lack of grunt. We love the space and comfort of the TDi but the latest iterration lacks the 1.9's power despite Skoda's claims of 105hp.

Can we break the chain and buy something with the same space within a small car but with more urge? Would the Honda CRV Diesel be more satisfying or maybe a VAG htach with 140hp be a better idea?

I d just replaced a corsa 1.3 cdti 95hp with a 1.6tdi. In terms of power, driveability and economy the 1.6tdi is superior in every respect. Maybe my 1.3 wasn't very well!!

Do you need a diesel? Unless your annual mileage is very high, it may be worth looking at a Roomster (or a Yeti) with the 1.2 TSI petrol engine - the version with 105 bhp. It could be livelier than the 1.6 diesel and only a little less economical.
