Hi all

I would like to know if it's possible to replace the Xenon directional head lamp units to halogen on this model. Any ideas welcome. Read more

Can I leave my car in the garage for 2 months, what precautions do I need to take? Read more

I have never used on myself but some people I know in the Caterham fraternity use solar chargers when their cars are stored in garages with no power. They appear happy with them.

This is the type of thing I mean....

I wonder who authorised that mindless twaddle. Smacks of desperation for content to me. Nowadays, I tend to watch on iplayer, so I can miss the worst parts of the show. It can hardly be called a programme! Read more

Agreed, the peugeot piece was barrell scraping ... but hammond winching up claerwen dam in a modified series 1 lanny the week before more than made up for it.

Agreed. I normally have a mild dislike of Hammond, but he deserves respect for that.

Actually it's not all new,it's based on the Chevrolet Spark built by GM Korea in the former Daewoo plant there. What intrigues me that this is the third Korean sourced car after the Antara & Mokka to be offered by Vauxhall. What I'm thinking is GM going to do what they did to Holden in Australia to Vauxhall over here, that is close down all manufacturing facilties and just become an importer of cars made elsewhere. After all the last true Vauxhall the HC series Viva/Magnum and since then all cars made and sold are just Opel's with the Griffon badge screwed on

Nothing wrong with 3-5.

1 & 2 are more of a matter of the wrong approach. Both would be much better as a big MPV. BMW make big cars and Jaguar make elegant ones so why have BMW decided to make their first 7 seat MPV a tiny one with child-only rear seats and Jaguar decided to follow the current fad for bulky crossovers instead of going for a timeless look for their high riding vehicle.... That's some impressive fuel economy from the automatic if those figures are as accurate as Subaru's usually are. Competitors like the Qashqai and Tiguan average mid to high 30s on their diesel automatics.

Thinking of changing my car. Currently have five year old Mondeo Titanium estate. It was the first car I had ever bought new, and have grieved at the depreciation and vowed never to buy new again.......however, would personal lease of some sort with a fixed term be a solution? I've been appalled at some of the repair bills that can arise from a relatively new and well looked after car as humble as a Ford.......

So, buy for cash a two year old Beemer, or take up some sort of contract that would let me chop in my brand new model for another after two, three, four years, before costly repairs/tyres etc? Read more

If, like me, you buy new to avoid unforeseen maintenance costs, a PCP is fine as long as you don't intend to hand the car back at the end of the contract. If you do, they charge you a lot if you go over the mileage set out in the contract and go over the car with a fine toothcomb for dents, scratches etc.

But if you're likely to change it for a new one or pay the balloon payment and keep the car, PCPs have a lot going for them. ...

Hi i find it hard to pull the gear shirt out of first gear.does it need oil.? Read more

Railroad.

Can you engage reverse easily or do the gears crunch? If so the clutch is probably not fully disengaging, and so it may be time for a new one. There's no oil level plug on the gearbox on these so you'll have to drain the gearbox and refil with the correct quantity of oil to be sure the level is right.

Hi, I am considering buying a 2009 Kia 2.0 litre sport. The car has only done 22000 miles with one owner and is only priced at 5500 i dont do many miles probably only 6000 a year but it seems a good deal, what are your thoughts. I am aware it might be needing a cambelt due to the age but it shouldnt need one straight away unless i can get it out of the dealer as part of the deal. Read more

All 2 litre Ceeds (petrol and diesel) were cam belt. The 2 litres were discontinued when the Ceed was facelifted in 2009 for 2 reasons, the engines could not be made Euro 5 compliant and they only sold in very small numbers.

If its a diesel it will have a DPF. The old 2 litre engine used needed one even for Euro 4 wheras the 1.6 was fine until Euro 5 required a DPF by law....
