When were the glow plugs last changed?

Could also be air getting into the fuel system through a worn hose/seal...

I test drove a 3 series recently on a bit of a whim and was so impressed I'm seriously considering buying one (at discount via a reputable broker). I drove and liked both the 330d and the 328i. But I can't decide between them on divring experience. I do around 10k miles per year, mostly motorway. I'd been told that BMW petrols have weaker resilduals but I wonder if that will change with the current climate on diesel bashing and also the move to a more economical 4 cyclinder turbo petrol over the older thirstier 6 cylinder petrols. I'm also not sure how things could change over the next couple of years on VED and fuel duty for diesel. I wondered if the petrol might be a safer bet. Any thoughts?

I'd buy the one you like driving the best and not worry about things that might or might not happen in five years time. I'd hate to be driving a car I didn't enjoy just because of some future possible saving. Really, if depreciation is a worry, I'd look to buy something older and cheaper.

Railroad.

Are you trying to program the remote so that the central locking works, or are you trying to program the transponder so that the engine will start with the new key? The former should be able to be done with VCDS. That latter can also be done with VCDS if you have an SKC code which would've been supplied with the car from new. VCDS will not extract the code, and so if you don't have it you can't do it. Unfortunately more recently VAG have not released the SKC code on newer cars, most likely for security reasons, and so it's likely to be a trip to the dealer for you. Even when programming the new key the VW technician won't get to see the SKC code as it's uploaded automatically from the factory during the process, so however much you plead with the dealer they won't be able to give you the code since they won't know it.

I have been with Admiral for 4 plus years with my 2001 P38 range rover, premiums have been goog but this year they want £100 more, reason they give, large numbers of range rovers are being stolen, my cars are secure in either garage or drive, we live in a very safe area, has anyone else experienced this type of increase, oddly enough our other car policies have reduced this year. Have you thought of getting some traders insurance. If you have several cars and also some young drivers then it can be better to have them on a business policy. Also if you have a premises then you can include them on the schedule.

The premium will be calculated on your number of years no claims bonus but providing that you have some bonus then you should get a reduction in costs. However if you do need to cover a under 25 year old then it really comes in to its own. For more information contact a specialist broker with the right connections....

Agree it will not be fast but 125 BHP is a lot more than the ~30 BHP in a Morris Minor

You will need the serial number of your radio in order to enable you to obtain the radio code. It isn't, unfortunately, possible to obtain it from the VIN number.

The serial number is given on a white label which is stuck to the casing of the radio. In order to be able to read this you will need to pull the radio out from the dashboard a couple of inches. You will need a set of radio removal tools in order to be able to do this....
