You could also try clay bar on the windscreen, followed by glass cleaner again.

My current insurance with Ford Insure is due for renewal on the 6th of March, I have not yet received a renewal notice and after telephoning them today was told that it was sent out on the 13th. A reminder is being sent today (19th)

I asked for them to send me a copy of entitlement to my No Cliams Bonus and the reply was that they cannot sent this out while my insurance is still a "live" policy.... Read more

Last time i changed they gave me something like a fortnight to provide proofs.

Are some of the companies making a bit of an effort to keep existing customers at long last, Saga came through very cheaply for the SWMBO's Outback once again and Cornmarket (formerly Adelaide) did me proud again for my cars....

I have just received a notice of intended prosecution & request for driver information for a vehicle I have no knowledge of, from a part of the country I have never been to. However, the letter is obviously addressed to me and has my correct name and address.

Not sure how to proceed and what to respond with. Any suggestions? Can I call up DVLA to check if someone has registered that vehicle in my name? How else could I be served with this letter for an unknown vehicle?... Read more

I don't change cars very often so am a bit out of touch with pricing. Had a trawl on the net for pricing sites and they all seem to want the right to harass you indefinitely after logging on!

Particularly interested in this as it seems a good spec for me and practical for grandchildren in the back!... Read more

Just trawl trough adds for your cars specs and year and compare, auto trader, aa cars etc. Then you have some idea if it's a good price.

I have a Mondeo 2002 diesel on which the glowplug warning light started flashing as I was driving home. No other warning light appeared and the car seemed to run normally. I was only on small country roads so I can't say if the performance may have been affected at higher speeds. Also, I can't say if the flashing occurred immediately after starting the car (it was still warm after about 30 mins in a shop car park) or some minutes later as it was a sunny day and I might not have noticed it immediately.
I checked the supply to the glow plugs. The 12V appears when switching on the ignition. After the usual amount of time that the glow plug light would go off, it flashes instead and the 12V supply cuts off after a further 10 seconds or so.
I tried starting the car a couple of times and it did fire but wouldn't continue to run. since the car has always started immediately I assumed that the plugs must be working normally, and that if one plug had failed the engine would start without too much difficulty. It seems unlikely to me, given the previous ease of starting, that it's a glow plug problem but they haven't been replaced in the four years I've had the car and I have no idea how long they have been in there. If I knew what current to expect on each plug I could check that.
I would appreciate advice on what steps are best to pin down the problem. Read more

Being a mild day, I tried starting the engine. Reluctant, but it did start and after initially smoking a little, the exhaust became clean. After running for a few minutes it sounded as if it was missing on one cylinder.

Hi everyone. I am trying to remove a gearbox from a 2002 2.0 hdi xsara picasso. I have removed 10 gearbox bolts, these include the 3 starter motor bolts, I have also removed the nearside driveshaft, the gearbox mount on the n/s and the bolts holding the offside driveshaft in place and the bolts holding the plate between the engine and gearbox. It now moves slightly and has come away slightly from the engine as you can now see part of the flywheel, but it doesn't budge anymore than that it is stuck but I don't understand what is keeping it in place still, has anyone on here had any previous experience of removing these gearboxes as it simply will not budge free. Any help and advice would be much appreciated Thanks in advance Jackg205. Read more

If it's anything like a Peugeot then the o/s shaft needs to come out or else it hangs up just lie you describe.

On the intermediate coupling on the shaft there's 2 11mm hex fasteners....
