Dear John,

I have recently purchased a 2012 Toyota Avensis which has apparently had increasing smoking issues since 60000 miles. It had the EGR value changed at 60000 miles which then started leaking at 67000 and had to have the hose pipes replaced. Then the ECU was reprogrammed at 91000 due to excessive white smoke but this didn't cure the problem and the hrad gasket was found to have blown and had to be rebuilt at 98185 on 17/07/2014. By 28/08/2014, six weeks later the car had done 103406 and the smoke was worst than ever. A few weeks later the car was taken off the road at 104600.... Read more

Repair work undertaken during a new car warranty, which this was, doesn't itself come with any additional warranty - regardless of manufacturer.

We don't have the full story here. ...

How do you request an addition to the real mpg area?
The Renault Captur 0.9 TCE is not in there.

Thanks... Read more

A modern Fiat X1/9. It would suit me apart from the width of the car in Cornwall's lanes. I dig the lightness and the mpg and the improved headlights over the coupe. Read more

It would have to be the Alfa Corse red for me, with the carbon fibre roof instead of the hanky. Perhaps they could retro engineer the bolted front bonnet to open and take the carbon fibre roof. Unfortunately Bertone isn't alive to advise them how to do it but it would make it perfect especially if body colour matched. Then it would be as clever as the Fiat X1/9 was.

Itisme - thanks for your E-mail. The post you wanted removed seems to have disappeared already as I can't find it - so all is well.

Are the Oil retailers starting to push prices up to keep profits up, where we were told they would be alot lower to come.

My thoughts are the same Jamie. Oil companies do an awful lot of work to get these fuels to the fuel stations and only make profit by selling a huge quantity.

I found a very rare Tokyo SSS for sale for £27595 in need of some tlc. It's a 1974 and has had an engine replaced in 96 according to the log book. It's left hand drive and was imported in 2000 from Sweden. It's got a few rust spots but nothing that needs welding and the paintwork is cracked and faded and interior is a mess. I have heard these are making £45k plus so there is room for profit but is there any thing I should look out for. My gut is telling me this is to good to be true somethings not right but not sure if it's the guy or the car that's not straight Read more

It was mentioned on this site in May last year! Crossing the gullibility threshold from bag of nails to work of art does seem to add zeroes to the price of a car.

Hi All. Ive just purchased a 1 year old Agila 1.0 from a main dealer, the owners manual is not with the car, its coming in the post, can anyone here tell me about the Temperature Guage, and does it have one? I can only find a temp warning light. Thanks for any help Read more

Thanks for that swift reply elekie, I appreciate it, and thanks for that link to the owners manual...very handy. Yes it is a worrying trend, Vauxhall seemed to have no probs funding an external temp sensor to this model..... but no engine temp....thats an odd decision. cheers
