***PLEASE READ**** If you are considering buying a vehicle from this garage. • Jeep sold with known faulty Turbo. • Sold with 12 month MOT but was actually 5 months. • Garage sold cherished plate without permission. • No warranty activated due to tincorrect completing of DVLA forms. • Courtesy car provided was poor quality. • Told car was repaired, yet an independent garage said the engine cover had not been removed. • Hours spent trying to contact Garage only to be fobbed off. • High Court Enforcement Officers recovered full costs through Court. We purchased a Jeep from VIP Car Sales, impressed by the website and initial contact with the company and we fell in love with the car. Richard seemed genuine enough. The engine light was on as we drove away, he plugged it into a computer and he assured us it was just the valves. We took it back to be fixed but the next day the light came back on. We got a second opinion from a local garage who said our turbo was on its last legs in OverBoost mode. Annoyed that we had been sold a car with a known fault by a seemingly reputable garage, we contacted Richard again, he said it would be a couple of weeks till he would be able to look at the car, but I explained we couldn't risk driving it around as it was literally on the verge of blowing. He said to call the AA if we broke down. Without a choice, we drove the Jeep 70 miles back to Richard (we live in North Yorkshire). We were given a Y reg Ford focus with ripped seats, no radio, no blower (in the height of summer) broken windows and only 1 door that would open with a key. We have 2 toddlers and I was 7 months pregnant. A month later after chasing him weekly, Richard said he had reconditioned the turbo "out of his own pocket", but sure enough the next day the light came on again. After a second opinion again, the garage informed us that the engine cover had not been removed and the turbo was in the exact same OverBoost condition. I threatened to take it back and recover my money under the Sales of Goods Act which Richard refused to do and said it doesn't apply to motor vehicles. I wanted him to pay for the new turbo fitting, he refused but after numerous calls he said he wouldn't pay for the labour and would only pay for a second hand Turbo. The total bill was £1100. They incorrectly completed the forms for the DVLA and sat on them for 4 months! In which time he sold my car with my personalised plate on, which I have now lost! When the forms eventually came through we found out that our MOT ran out in July 2014, not in March 2015 as advertised when we purchased the vehicle. Fuming, my husband called Richard who's response was "you sort it, that car has already cost me enough money!" The MOT bill was £680 so we decided to contact the small claims court. Last week we received £1,226 in compensation from the small claims court (not without a visit from the bailiffs) and Richard received a CCJ. We no longer have the Jeep after the Cam Shaft failed just 2 months after the turbo! We decided we wouldn't spend another penny on it and opted for a shiney new Kia Sportage :) Read more

Here's a further barrage of dissatisfied customers....

Sorry - censored. It still isn't clear to people that it's extremely risky to accuse someone of a criminal offence on a public forum (even with the laudable intention of warning others), and even more unwise to do when a case is sub judice....

Hi, ive had recurrent issues where the battery drains after a few days of not driving. I haven't driven the car since 6am yesterday and cant remember if I locked the car. This evening, the battery was dead again but when I got into the car, it sounded like it was trying to auto lock. Could this drain the battery? As you can tell, I'm not technical at all and I would really appreciate any help. The battery was replaced a few months ago Read more

Thank you all for coming back to me. An autospark checked it a few months ago and couldn't see anything wrong, that was when the new battery was fitted. I'm hoping that I didn't lock the car and it was some sort of auto locking function. When I was in it, it did sound like it was trying to lock. Do any of you kmow if it would be very expensive to bring to Ford for a diagnostic check?

Hi,

I have a 61 plate Nissan qashqai. It had small realignment work done on its exhaust to prevent it from touching the tow bar fitted on it. After just few miles of it being driven, the car had a yellow engine managment light on. On diagnostic the fault code found was PA200 and Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor faulty. Part was odered for me and I was told to drive it off and bring it back when the part arrives. On my way back after 10 miles the car broke down for the same reason and I had to call the recovery. The recovery team had to tow the car to the garage. They asked me to keep the engine running and move it to neutral gear. During the journey to garage which took 45 mins or so, I could feel some jerks as fuel was still going inside the engine (engine being running). I wanted to ask as their was incorrect fuel mixture going into the vehicle during this time and when i earlier drove it, can it cause unburnt fuel to be left inside and would it have caused further damage like carbon deposits, damage to catalytic converter (near exhaust) etc which might not be visible now but can affect engine performance and failures at a later date.... Thanks Railroad for explaining the process in detail. It's very informative. Hopefully it will run ok.

I have just been informed that my VW Touran needs a Cam Belt change and local dealer has confirmed £489 price and £539 with water pump- this is high costs in my view. Also informed needs to be changed ever 5 years.

Is this a good price?... Read more

Ive done timing belt on VW engines but no this one.

The belts & pump should really be changed along with tensioner and other bearings. Then if your changing the water pump the thermostat should really be changed too....

Need to replace my old 1.2 Polo soon as it is ill. Research has led me to Skoda Fabia. Any good?

I read from 07 onwards are pretty reliable... and similar to the Volkswagen Polo in terms of what I like about it i.e. group 4 insurance, 47mpg, reasonable tax, solid build for safety.... Read more

It most certainly has a "lifetime" chain. Obviously research not very well carried out......

Some early fabias with the htp engine to 2003 had tensioner problems related to neglect - low oil level operation and/or neglected oil changes that could lead to catastrophic engine failure. The tensioner was revised late 2003.

I have a Skoda Superb 1.9Tdi 130 PD Elegance. The car is nearly 10 years old with 190K+ but goes like a dream, used daily and is still in very good condition. However recently I noticed the footwell behind and underneath the drivers seat is sodden wet. ( which accounts for the unusual condensation and icing inside the car recently) I have checked the drainage holes in door panels adjacent to the footwell and they seem to be clear. There is a floor mounted vent under the seat, presumably part of the heating/air con system, but looking under the car it all seems to be quite well sealed with no cuts or bits missing. The door seals are in good condition and no sign of water from that area. Any ideas please? Is something blocked or broken that I cannot see but can rectify?

Thank you, Concrete Read more

this happened to me a long time ago, so my recollection isnt perfect. After a rummage online I found the link below which reminded me that there were three problems for this issue - pollen filter housing seal, clogged battery housing drain holes and ECU housing seal. I remember my battery holes being clogged and re-seating the pollen filter housing on silicon, I can't recall whether I did the same with the ECU housing. I think with water getting into the pollen filter it was then coming out of the aircon ducting under the seats. If I recall I had water on both sides. The thread linked below seems to suggest ideas on which issue might present on which side.I believe A4/passat/superb from that era were all built on the same platform so possible the issue was present across them all - I recall reading that to be the case.

My Friends 2 year old golf with the 1.6 TDi engine had a similar symptom yesterday.

He took it to the supplying VW garage and they rekon it's something to do with the head gasket, it's apparantly not an unkown fault with these engines. Hopefully your's is something simple as you're talking mega wonga otherwise

Whilst driving my clio at night the stop light and battery light flickers on and off, its sometimes that quick that if you blink you miss it. its also doing it during the day but not so noticable. I have taken off all the earth to body & body to engine cables and cleaned them thoroughly. also ther area that they bolt to as well as the battery terminals. therefore I am now confused as to what is causing the lights to flicker. can anyone throw any light on this or has someone experienced the same thing.
