Is this 2015 Mustang being built by Ford in RHD for the UK market, or is a post-production conversion from LHD, carried out in the UK? Read more
Can anyone tell me how to remove the cover from the wing mirrors on a Citroen C5. Read more
Many thanks Peter, I will give it a try.
Car fitted with iStop, but believe this only works when engine hot.
Started the car from cold, lights on and when adjusting the a/c I turned off the fan by mistake and immediately the engine stopped!... Read more
I have read that the istop will not work under some circumstances, air con on is one i recall reading about, another is if the battery reads under 90% full.
I had a charging fault with my CX-5, not a common fault as i had trouble finding someone else with the issue. But the software needed reinitialising by the garage, the charging volts were not high enough which resulted in a flat battery, this may not be your problem, but i would suggest you buy a plug in voltmeter from Amazon for a couple of pound....
Hi
Just went to see the Colt to buy, 59k miles 56 reg. Lady owner vendor kept saying "I hardly use it", which made me wonder if it had been used enough as it was a very stiff ride, gears, steering, pedals. She seemed to genuinely not use it and only done up to 6k p/a.... Read more
You could take it to a garage and get a 'sniff test' done. If that doesn't show up any problems, it could be a good buy.
I recently sold an 11-year-old car with 50K on the clock that I'd owned for nine years. Didn't do many short journeys and had a service (oil & filter, minimum) every year. Still on its original exhaust!...

You guys are awesome!
How do you haggle with an up-tight vendor who does not know how to haggle? She seems peed off by "lots of interest" from potential buyers, said she would keep it for me till Friday, gave me a cold hard stare but won't haggle the asking price when I return. Where's the fun in that? :( It's got MOT advisories and by her own admission is well due for a service....
my carjust wont start, got rac out the guy put a meter on it,code came up fuel valve, took it to my sons garage he cleaned tank water in fuel all drained new filter but would not start so he towed it to start and it did,it ran ok for a couple of days but went to start it nothing, would that be fuel running back to tank or what ???
This is where you need a priming bulb and I bet the Mondeo hasn't got one! If you can engineer a priming bulb (EuroCarParts sell one) into the fuel line before the fuel filter, this would show immediately if there's fuel up to the filter. A common fault on the Fiesta was tiny splits in the plastic fuel pipe which allowed fuel to run back to the tank. When this happened, the priming bulb would be felt to be empty. With some faults, squeezing the bulb would bring fuel up and the car would start, and with other breaks, you'd hear yourself blowing bubbles in the fuel tank...
The outback has always been a bit light for my caravan,
If this one is a little heavier it'd be a contender.
I am having a problem with the lcd display when using radio or sat nav: it goes off then back on again which keeps happening throughout the journey some more than others ! i have tried to repeat fault by tapping it ,and can't see anything obvious ? the type of unit is the one that when turned off folds away in to dashboard if that helps find a solution?

Hi Guys,
I really wanted to go to my first auction on 19th Jan at BCA in Bedford - there were a load of Insignia's on sale that day. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go (Job interview that morning).... Read more
If you have a BCA account and access to their guide pricing, they actually use CAP pricing for their reserve prices and estimated pricing. The suggestion was for the poster to get a ROUGH guide. Not a set in stone one. Crikey, you just can't help some folk without a pedant somewhere along the line.
Fair enough but the difference between dealer trade-in bottom book from CAP public access which you suggested using compared to the auction CAP price used at BCA can be £1000 so it can be a poor guide.
If you use the TOP trade-in CAP guide price available to consumers and add £300 or so you will be far closer to the CAP Clean price BCA will be using.
In June last year I had a new Sachs clutch and dmf fitted. Shortly afterwards I noticed a lot of vibration when starting from hot. This has got progressively worse to the point that its almost impossible to re-start immediately if the engine cuts out when hot. It does sound a bit like an exhaust problem but that's been eliminated. My garage suggested I took it to a VW main dealer. They have diagnosed a faulty clutch, dmf and starter motor. Another independent garage said it was the dmf.
My garage who fitted the new clutch in June last year doesn't believe it could be the dmf. Surely if the dmf was faulty then it would make a noise all the time, not just on starting when hot. My garage has taken out the starter motor and this is perfectly OK so I'm deeply suspect of the advice given by the VW specialist. My garage won't budge and refuses to dismantle the clutch (6 hours labour) without me paying for the work if the clutch/dmf is OK. I don't really believe what the VW dealer has told me so it's stalemate for me. ... Read more
More of a deep throated exhaust based rattle vibration, that's why vw main dealer diagnosed dmf. Told them the I had already had a new one (Sachs) with the clutch. Could it be a faulty dmf. My garage refuses to take it out as he says there's nothing to go with a new one.
