Looks like the Tax Disc will finally be a thing of the past.
The Chevrolet brand will be withdrawn from Europe by the end of 2015, according to GM Vice President.

Chevrolet competing directly against Opel/Vauxhall was always stupid. Read more

Thanks for the update. But why "just" £30,000? In the US you can get one for the price of a well-specced Fiesta..... Read more
Id consider one if there was a free stetson included, yeehaa
People don't like the expense when they go pop and the dreaded limp home mode! Read more
As a disabled person with one leg above the knee, I can only drive autos and have done so since my accident/surgery. But every time I change cars, I find it extremely difficult to find a vehicle with an automatic transmission. When you go to any auto garage, only about 1-2 per cent of their stock is auto, which drastically reduces their options. When you find a car you like, especially one that is used, everyone wants it, and the price skyrockets. I go to America a couple of times a year for work, and often in the suburbs of New York, I enjoyed driving because there was no problem getting any rented car model I wanted to drive in auto, unlike in the UK, where I am frequently left frustrated at airports and other locations because there is no auto car for me to rent, even from large companies. When they are able to get you any standard car, the price is far higher than a luxury well-equipped Manual gearbox Sedan in their collection. I'm hoping that the current push toward electric vehicles will change the British/European obsession with manual transmissions. Especially for us, frustrated disabled drivers.
Will this mean the refund process will become more efficient. Might be time to tax the classic for the month of use, or will the refund process be refined to days left, which with a bit of planning could mean only taxing for the weekend!!! Read more
Yes totally.
Now no need to take the disc from one car to the other.
Just swap the number plates or get a copy set.
I expect we'll see a huge increase in number plate thefts too.
Madness.
In France there is no VED or road tax it's all in the price of fuel that's a better option.
That's good news, that horrid little Chevrolet Spark should be dumped in the China sea. Read more
Surely it will just be a visual check they do?? How else would they test for it in the MOT centre? Read more
Hmmm... So if you have a 2006 model Euro IV vehicle, which did not legally require a DPF at time of launch, but which did had one fitted, is it still 'technically' illegal to have it removed?
And if so, how will MOT testers know if it was fitted as standard when new, as many Euro IV did not have dpfs fitted during 2006 model year?
I have a 10yr Ford Focus Zetec which has been annually serviced at the same Ford garage for the last 9 years. It has 76,000 miles on the clock. It's just broken down and the AA came out and said the cam belt was broken and may have caused other damage. The AA towed it to the Ford garage who have quoted far more than the car is worth to repair it and are awaiting my decision on what to do. I need a car and therefore have no real option but to purchase a new one. However, it has been suggested to me today that the garage should have advised me to replace the cam belt at 6 years old/60,000 miles. I have looked all through my service history and a cam belt replacement has never been offered or advised. Has the garage been negligent in any way? Had the cam belt been replaced I would still have a functioning car. Read more
in the past it has been raised with me by the garage - the cam belt is the ultimate catch 22 situation - i changed mine around 70k simply i was worried of it snapping.
Recently my car broke down with all faults showing on the dashboard.
I've had all filters replaced as red diesel has been used in it before. But the problem still persists, does anyone know what this could be as the garage aren't too sure? Many thanks Read more
In all honesty I would look for a garage that knows what they are doing !
All the dash lights will be on with the ignition until lit starts. Low battery voltage or charge rate will cause all the warning lights too be on, but on a disco it needs proper diagnostics with a proper check and no more than 2-3 hrs the cause should be found
All it needs is experience, proper diagnostic equipment and a clued up tech

Could be a nice earner for Osborne! Sell a car on 15th of month but don't get a refund on the unused 2 weeks. Buyer has to tax from the beginning of the month and pays for 2 weeks has hasn't used. Unless there will be a scheme to change owenership and keep the tax going and tranferred with the car.
