Hi,
Has anyone had the rear washer continually dribble down the rear window on their Golf MK 7.... Read more
First time post.
I have just purchased a second hand Vectra 2.5 V6 (S Plate). It was a cheap car that had a few problem which have been fixed apart from one thing "I can lock the doors". It looks like the car was broken into at some point. So, the key i have starts the car from the ignition fine. The central locking does not work and I've tried resetting (put key in ignition and hold button on key)Also, the door lock is damaged so cant lock manually.
Any help with the best way to fix it i.e can i just swap the door lock? Do i need a new lock, ignition and key?... Read more
Whilst searching on line for a Kia Sorento last week we came across one in Auto Trader being sold privately by some fellow now living in the US having recently split up with his wife. Their possessions were seemingly being sold off by a company called B & N Couriers Ltd based in Cullompton, Devon. We checked their credentials on their website and via Companies house and all seemed legitimate. The car had only done 35,000 and was on sale for £8,800 which seemed like a saving of 2-3k over other similar cars. Unfortunately the car was in storage in Berrick upon Tweed and with us living in the midlands that was an issue. They kindly offeerd to deliver the car down for a 3 day appraisal if we pad the 20% deposit which was refundable if it turned out to be not what we had understood. All seemed reasonable except that they needed the deposit by BACS or CHAPS transfer. Concerned that we would be parting with significant monies without receipt of car we did some further digging and found a brief note on Yell.com from someone claiming to have lost money with B&N. When challenged they claimed it was a competitor seeking to rubbish their business and their protestations seemed genuine, however our suspicians were now acute and just by chance we came across the identical car being sold out of a garage in Macclesfield (though unfortunately for £11,995) who when contacted confirmed that B&N did not own the car in question. They have asked auto trader to remove the private listing. Beware if it sounds too good to be true it might well be! We won't be progressing this any further. Read more
I'm surprised you wnt as far as you did with it - it sounds very dodgy from the description. Any time a car is 2-3k below average price you have to wonder why.

Hi,
I've got central locking, but the back rear door isn't working but will lock manually. All appear to make the central locking sound aside from the back left door. ... Read more
I've doubled checked and both back doors don't appear to be locking via central locking.
I doubt both doors have gone, so will it be a wiring issue? Where is the best place to look?...
The perfect town car for two! I drive a high spec Up! and longest journey I do is 11 or 12 miles one way. If this version handles and drives as well as mine, I would seriously consider it. Only worry...heated seats...that, some power drain! Read more
Why don't they show the car that could not get up? Read more
So where was the actually footage demonstrating???
I've spent the past couple of weeks driving the new Mazda3 (due for launch in the UK on January 3rd), and I thought I'd pass on my first thoughts.
Firstly, and I know it's a subjective world, it's a great looking car: especially in Fastback (saloon) form.
The interesting news is Mazda bucking the trend and continuing with comparatively large displacement engines. The forecast volume engine is a 120PS petrol, but instead of a 1.0 or 1.2 it's a 2.0 litre unit. In the 1200 miles I've done in it so far, a realistic real-world figure of 42mpg is showing on the trip computer.
It seems to be beautifully built, with some interesting connectivity features and is so far proving a pleasure to live with. Sadly, it's going back to Mazda on Friday and I'll be sorry to see it go: which is something I don't say with every car I work with. Read more
I'm quite interested in the new 3 since I found out it has a diesel/auto option that does not kill MPG or is a dual clutch nightmare. I'm doing 30k ish a year.
Is it true that the 2.2 diesel can still suffer issues with dpf and aborted regens even with high mileage, or is this an all new engine?
Thanks.
Have been having problems with engine revving when disengaging clutch whilst parking manouvers.( from normal idle revs approx, to 1500/2000 rpm!!! This rises to and reduces whilst clutch operation only ). High revs (2000 RPM) in colder weather. The vehicle has been into Hyundai SIX times and two main dealers , unable to effect a satisfactory outcome. As this will drastically reduce clutch life and fuel economy.Throttle position sensors and housing have replaced and reset. To little effect. Normal driving ok. Possible ECU programming/Glitch or software problem ????? It has only covered 7K miles !

This is pretty normal on some cars nowadays, supposed to help prevent stalls etc whilst manouvering. Our old Micra was very similar.
As for clutch wear and fuel consumption stop worrying, you spent a minute amount of your time parking so in the big scheme of things it will make no difference.
Car runs lumpy when turbo cuts in only started since having a remap.

cheap rubbish remap?? get them to put it back to standard and find a proper tune.
I see that it cinsidered illegal to remove the DPF partly because do so interfers with the emissions. So why does not 'chipping' an engine fall into the same category, because I cannot believe that this action does not affect the emissions?
Maybe this is considered a grey area?
BTW, my Audi is chipped and my insurance company is happy to cover it for a small extra premium.
I suppose you could consider ANY modification to a car that could affect the emissions is illegal, eg wider tyres, different exhaust, air cleaner etc,
No doubt someone on this forum will put me right! Read more
The eurocrats already have the regulations in place. This does not mean legislation.
What is happening about ecus is that new generation designs - some already in new cars, e.g. vag, are being designed with secure processors that support digital signing, which should make program modification impossible by other than the manufacturer....

There was a recall in this but only GTD & GTi Mk7 early cars apparently. Mine is a GT and VW had not had this problem highlighted as yet. Being fixed as I type!
