I have to replace the drivers seat airbag on my Nissan pathfinder tekna it's a 2011 model. Question is the are costly even second hand from a breaker. I have found one that looks the same on eBay but it's out of a Renault

Renault Scenic Drivers side seat airbag air bag 8200371819 2003-06 models CYC

Question is will it fit and work, again it looks identical in every way other then part number

There are two possible part numbers on the one I have which are

So any help would get gratefully received

Thank you in advance for any advice etc

Presumably its got damaged somehow or it would be a warranty claim.

I have no idea if the part would fit, but would you really want to risk it, not so much that it failed to work if neeeded (bad enough) but that it suddenly went off unexpectedly, apart from the shock and noise if driving at the time, if it went off as someone was entering/exiting the vehicle serious injury could easily result....

I have a 2007 Toyota Avensis estate and would recommend one. The model ran from 2003-09 so you would find one in your budget. Mine is a petrol 1.8 VVTi – it’s powerful enough and economical for the size of car. It’s comfortable, it’s refined, it’s safe and it’s big – The boot is big, the back doors are wide so it’s easy to our baby seat in and out. You can have the front seats set far back and still fit the baby seat and base unit in. And it’s very reliable.

Or try estate versions of Ford Mondeo, Skoda Octavia, Mazda 6 (petrol), Honda Accord or those advised above – all good choices....

Hi all,

After not driving my car for 2 weeks I set off yesterday morning and had to come home as I couldn't select any gears. Symptoms are as follows:... Read more

Sounds like its no longer clearing and needs adjustment, if possible many hydraulic systems are self adjusting, or that air has got into the system and it needs bleeding via the slave cylinder.

Thats the first thing i would do anyway (hopefully the bleed point is available), and whilst down there get an assistant to operate the clutch and watch what happens at the business end....

My son is 16 and itching to pass his driving test I know driving lessons can cost a lot and ive come across several websites that would apear to give a head start (link deleted) do regular driving lessons and under 17 lessons they also appear to do intensive driving courses.

Will he pass more quickly? will he be a safe driver if he does? Read more

It certainly is spam (or was until I deleted the link). Not literate enough to be 'neat' in my book.

Not everything that people get up to in cars at night is criminal - although it may be illegal in public. The Jazz has a very adaptable interior...

won't start when it is left for a prolonged period i.e park up after work 5pm won't start in the morning with out a bump start , rest of the day when using it it starts fine and runs fine. I have had it in the garage as the first time it struggled to start it was frosty so I assumed glow plugs , they cannot remove as a alan bolt has been rouned off , the advice I got was to try pumping the small push button to prime the fuel, This has had no affect 73k on clock w reg well serviced .. Also get the valve clearances checked. They close up with mileage & so can loose a bit of compression, which on a diesel also means loosing heat in the cylinders.

I want to swap the original alloy wheels for steel wheels for winter tyres. The wheel supplier has told me that I can use the nuts for the alloy wheels on the steel wheels as long as they are OEM (they are). I have had conflicting advice (from a tyre supplier) telling that I should buy a new set of wheel nuts for the steel wheels. I went though this a year ago on an earlier Yaris when I did buy a new set of wheel nuts from a main dealer. I recall that they were very expensive! If I need to buy a new set, then I would prefer to buy on-line (much cheaper!). If I do buy on-line, is here anything about the specification that I should be aware of? Thanks. Read more

Hi, thanks for you very prompt reply. I am still awaiting the delivery of the steel wheels. I shall examine them with intetest when they arrive!!

Is it just me or are Councils now closing roads completely for road works rather than maintaining traffic flow with lights where possible ?

This seems to be common practice around here with Tandridge Council on country roads that end up with long detours that seem to me at least not to be justified.... Read more

RT

The length of time it takes the police to investigate a RTC is directly related to their lack of resources - doubling the number of traffic investigation officers would halve the time - but that extra cost would have to be met by the taxpayers who don't have infinitely deep pockets.

I kick myself for not ordering the rear-view camera when I ordered the car 2 years ago. I have recently fitted a Maplin one with wireless monitor. Rubbish instructions but that is another story. The monitor lights up when reverse is engaged then the image comes into view and is very handy BUT after about 10 seconds the picture cuts out. I asume that this is due to interference on the 2.4 GHz frequency, what is causing it please? I have tried disabling the Bluetooth on screen - that made no difference. If I engage reverse gear without starting the engine the picture stays steady until reverse is disengaged. Read more

Made some more checks this afternoon. If the diesel engine is not running the image appears when reverse is engaged (and the ignition on) and remains steady until reverse is disengaged. It the engine is running the image appears for 10 seconds when reverse is engaged then the monitor screen switches off and returns to uniform blue. This is without any further action or intervention.

There appears to be some relationship between the diesel engine running and the monitor. But why is the picture perfect for 10 seconds then switches off?
