Who else has noticed the number of cars with defective lighting ?
On Thursday last I joined the one-headlamp brigade, and a brigade it seems to be. I noticed on the way home that I couldn’t see the nearside verge as well as I usually could, and thought I’d got a problem on that side. When I joined the suburban roads with street lighting, and more traffic, then I was sure I had a problem. When I came to traffic lights I could see the reflection of only the offside headlight in the back of the car in front. When I arrived home I found that not only the nearside dipped beam but also the sidelight had failed too. That would explain the two or three drivers who flashed me with their main beams. One of the guys must have given me a salute because his dipped beam and sidelight were out too, but his were on the offside.... Read more
Hi
Have had a few problems with polo (W reg/approx 80k miles) cutting out since I got it about 6 months ago. I've had the alternator replaced, as the car was cutting out when I was going along and I turned the wheel quite hard, e.g. in to a car parking space. The new alternator fixed the problem of the engine cutting out.... Read more
>>Today, I was stationary and turned the wheel all the way left - it cut out. I then turned it all the way right - it cut out.
Never had a car without power steering? If you had, I might venture to suggest you'd never attempt to turn the wheel without moving....
Recently had to call breakdown cover as the fuel hose was leaking. They fixed a temporary one on the vehicle . I have had a price of £60 for a replacement hose. This sounds ridiculous for a bit of rubber. Have looked online. Seems I can get one for less than a tenner but not sure if it is the correct one. The hose that came off has. Hp fuel hose 4458 written on it.
Help much appreciated Read more
Be very careful with fuel hose. Modern fuels with the additives and ethanol they contain rot the incorrect spec hoses within 3 years. There are vast quantities of hose on the market taht does not meet the correct spec for modern fuels and an equal amount with the correct markings that does not meet the requirments either.
That's why I suggested that the OP go to Pirtek, they are hose professionals and will be aware of the problem.

b) cancelling a policy with much less than 2 months to run will usually cost.
Hello,
Can anyone tell me what the cost price of a new mini one is?... Read more
the problem of simply dividing profit by number of cars manufactured is that it ignores the source of the profit. The figures are distorted by such things as share price fluctuations (think Porsche) and profits from banking/financial operations.

What difference does it being two wheel drive make? There are so many complaints about space savers, inflation kits etc I'd have thought we might have more people welcoming the return of the external spare wheel. I'm quite happy to have big wheels, reasonable boot and inflation kit.
Started car up this morning and the temp gauge wasnt registering then all of a sudden it shot up into the red, i took it to the garage and was told it was 1 of 3 faulty senser, a friend of mine did a diagnostic an got error codes P0115 Coolant temp signal and U2139 Can-Bus no comunicationwith engine control module, he says that its a wireing fault with which he says its a faulty ECU, could anyone tell me if the sensors could be the cause or do i need another ECU????,,, Read more
Thanks for that info, he reset the codes but the po115 was still showing, so do you think it's still the sensors that's making the ECU look faulty??
The airbag warning light came on recently on my 2002 A3 TDI. As the car was booked in for service anyway, I asked my local Audi dealer to investigate the light. Having done this they informed me the airbag needs replacing in the steering wheel, which will cost £339.
Goes without saying I don't want to mess around and delay replacement any longer than necessary, however, I wondered if anyone had any thoughts re using anyone other than Audi? Personally, depsite the cost, I feel like it's worth paying Audi to do it simply for peace of mind and knowing the replacement will be a genuine part, but I'd be interested in your views. Read more
Are they really sure it is the airbag itself and not the spiral clockspring link that sits behind the steering wheel? This is more likely to be the problem, and the part is certainly a lot less ,cost wise.hth

That triggered an idea. One of my young friends told me to check via Snopes if I wasn't sure whether a story was true or not, so I did.
