Is the Ford PowerShift Automatic a reliable gearbox? Does it still provide creep in the same way as a "proper" automatic when no throttle is applied? Read more

Honda (or whoever makes the transmission for them) are said to have a TC element in their dual-clutch set up for the Jazz. I'm not sure how that works, but I guess the TC takes on the role of providing the creep function, and while moving off from rest. Allowing the clutches to remain fully engaged, only actuated when gears are to be swapped. TC lock-up when moving at or over a predetermined speed.

My wife received a parking charge notice for parking in a free car park owned by a council. The fine is £85 from Brittania Parking.

The parking charge was for not displaying a valid ticket, she didn't realise that although parking is free she had to obtain a ticket. The parking fine states it is for parking for one minute without a valid ticket. She had been in the space for a couple of minutes while visiting the bank with a family member she had collected from a care home to visit the bank. ... Read more

Having now read some of the Bawtry case the OP could be in for the long haul if they wish to contest this.

They will need to do some serious leg work and information gathering to assess under what jurisdiction the ticket is being issued. After this they will be in a position to decide if the ticket is a penalty or an invoice.

At the moment and reading the letter from the Council (don't confuse the Council that have lots of legal powers with a Town Council which is little more than a voluntary talking shop for busy bodies) it is looking like an invoice.

This needs to be done in stages.

I would enter a very basic appeal to Britannia based on the time actually parked, as a minute between parking and issuing a ticket is against BPA guidelines. If they are minded to refuse request a POPLA code and see what happens. If a POPLA code is issued a much more robust defence can then be prepared which on all evidence so far will win.

If they don't plan B will need to be considered.

Wish the police were as strict here at times. Hopefully it might teach Clarkson a lesson and wind his neck in abroad. Thinks he is untouchable.

I love the way Clarkson says they were confused by the speed limit. Not only were they above the limit for that road, they were above the limit for thr road they thought they were on!

I was informed by a mechanic when I had issues with my ford that it is an offence to remove the DPF or any part of it when the car is fitted with them (repacing parts is OK. If this is the case with your car you have a pretty good case under the Sale of Goods Act to take this up with the dealership you bought it from even if you bought it from them some time ago. The dealership will probabally kick and scream but stay firm and polite with them.

Also I would have it refitted as soon as possible, but buy the parts yourself rather than let the garage do it it will save you a fortune. The whole emmisssion management system on these engines is complex and the Regen does not just clean out the DPF but also essential for the turbo system, once the EGR getts clogged up with soot it is only a matter of time before the turbo goes too.

Despite being an SUV, Porsche has made the Macan “broad and low”, with styling inspired by the 918 Spyder. The cabin features typical Porsche design details like a trio of instrument dials with a centrally mounted tachometer. There are also sports seats and a sports car like high mounted gear lever.

Base models of the Aygo/C1/107 have a single piece rear seat, but better specced models allow you to fold half of the back seat, so you would have plenty of carrying capacity in one if there were 3 of you.

If you go down this route, i also suggest looking for one with aircon, not for the obvious sumer benefits, but actually to assist with front screen demisting in the winter. Its a very big screen to demist and with just heat from that tiny engine it takes far too long without aircon to help out. ...
