Some years back, a car fitted with extra sensors (as we were developing air-sensing fan drives and this was used for endurance tests) had a small radiator leak. Needing to complete a mileage program we popped a Bar's leaks pellet in the rad as a temporary fix, this sealed the leak but cylinder head temperatures went up about 10 C compared to the established normal level. Not noticeable on the standard temperature gauge, though.

Hello All,

Came back from holiday last week and in avoiding some issues on the M23 I went through Reigate to join up with the M25. The traffic was very busy with lots of stopping and starting but as we started to go up Reigate hill I noticed a problem with the car on hill starts.... Read more

My VAG EPB motors are nearly 8 years old and 205,000 miles and still work fine.

These are proper ones that screw a piston into the hollow hydraulic piston, rather than a motor that applies a conventional cable-operated brake. No more only works properly on one side and annual adjustments....

Just taken delivery of one. The powered door mirrors do not fold when the doors are locked, would prefer that they did. Is there a fix please?

Used to door locking as speed picks up but on this car they do not. Can this be arranged in the software or elsewhere please? Read more

It is difficult to cover everything even if you have several test drives - the doors were not locked once. We knew we were getting power fold mirrors and have them on another car on which they fold on locking and unfold on unlocking. Will check with the dealer when I get there.

I rather think it may be the sister's husband that the OP is talking about, rather than a stepfather.

The courts are normally unsympathetic towards people contesting a will made by someone of sound mind (observing the prinsiple that you can do what you like with your own money). The exception is if a person provides for another (e.g. a son/daughter or other relative) during their lifetime and fail to make similar provision in their will. This could poassibly be the case here, and I agree the OP needs to consult a solicitor specialising in family law.

I dislike that dip in the rear door window. if the window line was straight from the B pillar through to the bottom of the c pillar window IMO it would be a much better looking vehicle. Read more

Nice report. Those DS4 resale values are looking poor. Despite the target buyer, these are way off the premium brands on resale. Read more

I have a MkIV mondeo estate. I paid ~£4000 at car Giant for a 100K 58 reg estate (In March 13) . I think you pay a lot more for Titanium than my base spec Edge. i think Zetec might be the best compromise. I don't have too many toys but I don't miss them really.

+ points it's massive for a family car...

Hi. We've got a 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Saloon automatic and for about a year we've been having intermittent (sporadic) starting problems where if you turn the key, all the dashboard lights come on like normal, and then nothing, just a click. We had the starter motor replaced about 10 days ago and it seemed to go away for about a week, but now the problem has returned. Sometimes it will start after 2-3 turns of the key, other times it can take 20-30 turns before it will attempt to start. It only cranks as it starts, otherwise just a click! Occasionally messing around with the electric windows or radio will actually get it to attempt to start more quickly (or so it seems). Any ideas please? Many thanks, M&C. Read more

Could try by-passing the starter inhibitor switch/relay for a few days assuming its reasonable to get to...the system that only allows the car to start in P or N....this assumes of course that the gearbox has a traditional inhibitor switch.

Remember though doing so should allow the car to start in gear so extra care should be taken whilst eliminating this item.
